IFC is seeking a versatile and dynamic E T Consultant (Senior Editor) to work with the Economics and Private Sector Development Vice Presidency staff. The E T Consultant (Senior Editor) will work with staff across disciplines, including applied economics, impact evaluation, blended finance, and donor partnerships. The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring technical content is accessible and compelling for a broader audience, including external business and policymaker audiences, global media, and internal stakeholders such as the Board and IFC Senior Management. 
 
This position will involve editing and producing high-quality outputs such as flagship reports, articles, op-eds, memos, and other content that aligns with the strategic objectives of the unit. The successful candidate will work closely with economists, communications professionals, and internal partners to produce content that is both informative and engaging. The selected candidate will work closely with editors and external communications officers in IFC Corporate Communications to ensure strategic alignment, a high level of editorial quality, and tailoring of content to specific audiences and stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities
 
The roles and responsibilities of the position will include:
•  Editing and Content Development: Collaborate with authors and experts from various disciplines to edit and produce a wide range of content, including reports, academic publications, articles, blogs, op-eds, memos, presentations, and digital/social media content.
•  Quality Assurance: Ensure that all outputs meet high editorial standards and adhere to IFC and World Bank Group style guidelines, with a focus on clarity, coherence, and audience engagement.
•  Production Management: Support every stage of the content production process, from outlining and drafting to revising, securing approvals, and overseeing the launch and distribution of publications.
•  Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with IFC communications professionals to create web content, social media assets, and press materials that align with broader corporate communications strategies.
•  Editorial Reviews: Work closely with the Executive Editor and communications teams to conduct in-depth reviews of content, providing feedback and recommendations for improvements. 

 

Selection Criteria

 

•  Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Economics, or a related field, with 8 or more years of experience in editing economics, business, or development-focused content. Experience with the World Bank Group or other international financial institutions is a plus but not required
•  Ability to engage and learn about a wide range of business and economics topics, work with content based on numbers and analytics, and quickly grasp details while maintaining a big-picture perspective
•  Exceptional writing, editing, and message development abilities, with a proven track record of making complex content accessible to diverse audiences
•  Broad knowledge of current events and trends in international and development economics, business, policy, and technology, with an understanding of modern communication strategies.
•  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with authors, subject matter experts, and colleagues across departments, geographies, and disciplines.
•  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
•  Commitment to the World Bank Group and IFC’s mission and values.
•  Computer skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and major graphic design software.
