DRC has been responding to various humanitarian crises in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees. DRC received registration from the Ministry of Interior in 2011, and since then has focused primarily on responding to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the resulting impact on Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon’s focus is to ensure that we are able to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs whilst improve the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contribute to the achievement of durable solutions. With an annual portfolio of $12million, and with approximately 200+ staff, DRC is focusing its response in protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sector in Bekaa, North Lebanon and Beirut. DRC is also contributing to the evidence base and coordination structures in country through our Evidence Generation and referral information management (RIMs) teams.

About the job

The Economic Recovery Assistant will be based in the North of Lebanon, covering the T5 and Akkar areas, as a member of the Economic Recovery department, under the direct supervision of the Economic Recovery Team Leader. The Economic Recovery assistant will be responsible for offering general information about the economic recovery activities conducting sessions for individuals and businesses.

The Economic Recovery assistant will also support both the employability and mentorship officer upon requests to: provide life skills development trainings, decent work awareness sessions, any program related support (finance, logistic, administrative), one to one session on for business owners and startups. S/he will be responsible for providing ongoing mentoring and follow-up to all beneficiaries going through the economic recovery activities. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Program Implementation:

  • Support in the front-desk registration coverage for economic recovery programme/ Centers;
  • Offering general information about the economic recovery program and its services, answering phone calls, calling beneficiaries to make registration appointments, and following- up with the previously contacted beneficiaries;
  • Organize and perform socio-economic profiling and work on information systems/database to record relevant data of beneficiaries;
  • Provide beneficiaries with relevant information on the Labour market, Lebanese regulations and their implications for Lebanese and non-Lebanese;
  • Provide individual career counseling services and business support mentorship sessions following SOPs and guidelines, ensuring a good communication and a safe space.
  • organize trainings (life skills, decent work conditions, and soft skills trainings), contact beneficiaries accordingly, gather feedbacks, and collect and archive attendance sheets;
  • Provide payments for each attendance where transportation allowances are requested, coordinating closely with finance;
  • support in conducting life skills trainings sessions for program participants, decent work conditions awareness sessions and soft skills trainings;
  • Ensure the classification and good archiving of each beneficiaries’ files classify and archive, ensuring beneficiaries data protection;
  • Conduct and follow-up of referrals for beneficiaries with identified needs to the same sector or to other sectors (protection, wash, shelter, etc.) through RIMS;
  • Follow up with beneficiaries after referring them to the activities, ensure that they are following their livelihoods pathways and provide extra career counselling sessions if needed;
  • Assist in conducting market assessment of the areas of intervention and determining program intervention priorities based on needs and existing resources;
  • Participate in field-based research activities related to DRC economic recovery programing;
  • With strong collaboration with Economic Recovery team ensure that the technical aspects of the project are running in accordance with the project’s objectives and DRC’s strategies.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation

  • Ensure strong engagement with beneficiaries targeted and make sure their enquiries are answered in a timely manner. Similarly, inform beneficiaries about the feedbacks and complaints mechanism and the hotline number.
  • Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation department to facilitate monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure program implementation is on track and of highest quality.
  • Ensure that project files are maintained, archived and up to date.
  • Ensure that all reporting and referrals through RIMS is done through the relevant online platforms.
  • Any other task relevant to the position and as requested by the Economic Recovery Officer or team leader.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect the following:

Required

  • 2 years’ minimum experience with Local NGO or INGOs, preferably in economic recovery/Livelihoods, social services, or related sectors, which would include experience with the following activities:
  • Implementation of skills development
  • Implementation of business support/Entrepreneurship program
  • Social work, particularly career and personal and businesses mentorship/counseling for vulnerable individuals
  • Profiling beneficiaries for vulnerability and matching them with career pathways
  • Training and facilitation for staff and community groups
  • A Technical degree in related sector.
  • Languages: English and Arabic
