Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of the Macro-economic and Development Policies branch (MDPB), Division on Globalization and Development Strategies (DGDS), the Individual contractor will contribute to the finalization of the Trade and Development Report (TDR) 2022 and its Overview for publication. The contractor will also:

– Provide stylistic and formal editing of the drafts for the TDR 2023 and its Overview

– Ensure linguistic correctness, coherence in style, and compliance with UN and UNCTAD standards

– Check statistical tables and charts for consistency with quantitative information in text

– Edit the changes introduced shortly before finishing the Report, in particular those following the clearance process, related to the whole Report and the Overview

– Advise on all other editorial and presentational aspects of the TDR and its Overview, including layout, and make suggestions with regards to alternative models of presentation, and ensure consistency of presentation with UN rules and standards

– Proofread the final version of the Report and its Overview ready for reproduction

Qualifications/special skills

A first university degree, Bachelor, in communication, English, journalism, geography or one of the social sciences is required

At least 7 years editing/revising/proofreading experience in the social sciences and economic is required

Fluency oral and written in English is required
