Purpose of the Job:

The purpose of the Education Coordinator position is to provide technical support the department management in terms of preparing projects logframe, writing proposals, preparing project plan, making project reports, dealing with other departments including M&E and Grants, protection of education, logistic, finance, supporting and monitoring field level staff in terms of technical issues and programme quality, participating in needed meetings inside and outside of the organization. Also support the team in implementation of education programme (CBE/AEP, Support to formal Education and Teacher training), dealing with existing stakeholders including government entities specially MoE in terms of reporting and preparing MoUs, INOGs, donors, community stakeholders, preparing, revision and finalizing needed community based EiE curriculum are the part of this job

Responsibilities:

Generic Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical guidance related to Education programming and relevant liaison with educational authorities
  • Contribute to fundraising, develop, and revise funding proposal, budgets, and donor reports
  • Follow up on compliance with government policy and contractual commitments within Education, ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation
  • Provide technical direction and project implementation support
  • Ensure that key learnings are extracted from Education implementation, and incorporate them in the Education strategy and project work plans, and staff development processes
  • Provide systematic training and build capacity of technical staff
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  • Ensure use and application of NRC rules, tools, manuals, and other project guidelines.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide programme audits, feedback sessions, and capacity development sessions for staff
  • Joint planning with Ministry of Education, Provincial Education Directorates, and District Education Directorates, for transition planning, enrolment, and certification
  • Provide technical support, based upon an assessment or monitoring, of the ‘quality of education’ and a clear action plan (including training)
  • Organize and conduct team meetings and workshops in the context of the implementation of the project activities.
  • Provide technical support and provide ongoing training to team members.
  • Develop a team spirit and positive work within the team.

Generic Professional Competencies:

  • University degree in Education (Education Management, Planning, General Education), Social Science and Development Studies.
  • Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in implementation of education or similar projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Experience of working in Education Emergency is an advantage.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Context/ Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Should have geographical experience.
  • Knowledge of the local languages – Dari and Pashto.
  • Experience in capacity building and training of staff
  • Experience of coordination and advocacy work
  • Political and cultural awareness and experience of working where insecurity is an issue
  • Strong analytical thinking skills (qualitative and qualitative)
