Our Work In Sierra Leone:

Partners In Health (PIH) began supporting the government of Sierra Leone in response to the Ebola epidemic in October 2014. Recognizing the large need for continued investments in the health system after Ebola, PIH is committed to long-term health system strengthening in support of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), guided by the same principles as our emergency response and our work around the world: public sector accompaniment, integrated and comprehensive services, social justice, nimbleness and flexibility, partnership, community ownership, and evidence-based interventions. In the aftermath of the epidemic, PIH is committed to supporting the delivery of comprehensive health services in Sierra Leone, from the community level to the health center and to referral hospitals.

Position Overview
Partners in Health (PIH) is a global health organization that provides high-quality healthcare to some of the world’s most impoverished communities. PIH works in partnership with local governments and communities to strengthen health systems, reduce health disparities, and improve health outcomes for all. PIH is seeking an eHealth Officer for a Grand Challenges Data Science Project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The eHealth Officer will be responsible for extracting, cleaning, and uploading data to a joint multi-country data base, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, and serving as the main resource person during the whole period of the project, which aims to improve electronic medical record (EMR) data usage, storage, and sharing for research purposes.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will be the Site Data Lead for Grand Challenges Data Science Project. These are the key responsibilities

• With support from the central data lead and other team members, help in the extraction of data from electronic medical records (EMRs) relevant to the Grand Challenges Data Science Project.

• Ensure data accuracy and completeness by working closely with other team members to identify and resolve any data discrepancies or errors.

• Support the update of local data in the joint EMR database on a regular basis to ensure it is up-to-date and accurate, and collaborate with other team members to ensure that data is consistent with project goals and objectives.

• Serve as the main resource person for data-related inquiries and support, responding to data requests from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner and in compliance with the project data governance requirements.

Education and Work Experience Requirements
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as computer science, statistics, or data management, with a focus on global health preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in data management, including data extraction, cleaning, and analysis, preferably in a global health context.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMRs) and other health-related data sources, and familiarity with open-source EMR and data management tools such as OpenMRS or DHIS2.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including healthcare providers, data analysts, and program managers.
  • Knowledge of data management best practices and procedures, with experience implementing data management policies and procedures preferred.
  • Experience working in a team environment and collaborating with external partners, with a commitment to working in a collaborative, cross-cultural setting.

Proficiency in data management software and tools, such as SQL, Excel, and Tableau
