Role Overview

As an English Editor (Associate) in our Editorial and Creative Unit, you will play a vital role in shaping how the EBRD communicates. You will work closely with authors, editors, designers and senior management to produce clear, compelling and brand-compliant content. This role offers a mix of copy editing, proofreading and project management, offering an exciting opportunity to develop your skills as part of a well-resourced team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing production: oversee the production of corporate reports and publications from beginning to end.
  • Working with clients: receive and process client briefs, ensuring alignment with the EBRD’s strategic goals.
  • Scheduling projects: create detailed production schedules and determine resource requirements.
  • Managing freelancers: commission and manage freelance editors and designers.
  • Editing content: copy edit and provide feedback on content to ensure clarity, accuracy and brand compliance.
  • Proofreading: review laid-out or published content, offering feedback to designers or authors.
  • Preparing assets for publishing and promotion: prepare metadata, SEO assets and social media posts.
  • Maintaining online content: help maintain the content of the corporate website.
  • Maintain project database: keep the Editorial and Creative team’s project-management database current.
  • Reporting: provide reports on the team’s performance.
  • Undertaking other editorial duties, as required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: University degree (or equivalent) is a minimum. A degree in English or a qualification in communications, editing or publishing would be an asset.
  • Experience: At least five years of editing in-house, agency or freelance, with a strong portfolio in various media.
  • Skills:
    • First-language English, with excellent written and oral communication skills. o Outstanding copy editing and attention to detail.
    • Ability to carry out structural editing.
    • Experience of preparing publications for digital and print environments.
    • Proven organisational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of digital publishing and social media promotion.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships in a multicultural environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and capacity to learn new software tools.
