The primary purpose of this assignment is to explore funding mechanisms for access to renewable energy as a means to tackle the adverse impacts of climate change. More specifically, this assignment aims at delivering: (i) two draft ABM baseline and monitoring methodologies and two project documents according to guidelines provided by the African Development Bank for two potential ABM demonstration projects related to solar water and water irrigation efficiency already selected by the Bank in the Fentale District, Oromia Region in Ethiopia,; (ii) organizing a 3-days stakeholders consultation and meetings in Ethiopia, including the travel and stay of maximum 4 international experts (ABM Executive Committee members and AfDB representatives of the ABM secretariat) in September 2023; (iii) a field trip to two projects; and at least two meetings with relevant stakeholders at federal and local level, such as with relevant ministries and UN organizations, local governments, local communities (including women and youth), NGOs (including women organizations) and the private sector – one in Addis Ababa and one in the Fentale District; and (iv) preparing a brief final report, describing the work done and including relevant findings, challenges, best practices and recommendations.
