JOB SUMMARY: CARE has rapidly grown its leadership in the Food and Water Systems (FWS) sector. FWS is one of the six impact areas that the CARE confederation has prioritized for 2030. FWS has the largest remit amongst all of CARE’s impact areas, aiming to improve the lives of 75M people by 2030. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Program, Strategy, and Impact (PSI), the Executive Director will serve as the Global Technical Leader for CARE, ensuring CARE has the team, vision and results needed to achieve our ambition goal to serve 75M community members through our and our partners work via gender centered Food, Water and Nutrition programming and influence. The ideal candidate has a passion for and track record for building and leading world class teams as well as growing and scaling evidence based impact. Additionally, they are equally excited about the opportunity to shape and grow one of the sector’s leading portfolios of gender equal food and water systems work.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Team Management This role has five senior direct reports and oversees a team of 50+ staff. They are responsible for working with their leaders, team members and human resources to build and maintain high performing teams capable of meeting and exceeding their deliverables. This includes systems, processes and culture to recruit, retain and develop exception talent throughout the team. Strategy Creation & Execution This role is responsible for working across CARE to develop CARE’s long-term Food and Water Systems program strategy, as well as partner across CARE to ensure country offices, fundraising teams, advocacy teams, technical teams and other key stakeholders work together to achieve CARE’s collective ambitions for its food & water systems programming. This includes helping advance organizational systems and processes to achieve these goals, as well as help remove risks, roadblocks and resource constraints. Deliver Results This role is responsible for ensuring quarterly, annual and long-term results are achieved. They are expected to work with their team and with partner areas to deliver on-going results, as well as be a link between teams and CARE’s leadership & governance to determine when and how pivots are required to achieve our long-term food & water system goals. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred. 20+ years of experience in Management 10+ years in Food & Water Systems experience or equivalent Strong track record of building and leading high performing teams Proven track record of creating and leading growth strategies Fluency in French or Spanish desired but not required
