Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

About the job

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Team Lead in Mykolaiv to support and oversee deployment of EORE team (s) and activities that are the core humanitarian mine action operations within all reasonable efforts leading towards successful work of DRC EORE teams that remains relevant and an integral component of the collective EORE efforts.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Participate in the development of activity workplans and follow them accordingly.
  • Comply with field coordination directions of EORE Team Leader and flag uncoordinated efforts to them.
  • Actively participate in internal EORE team meetings and share pertinent updates.
  • Liaise with DRC HDP Humanitarian Demining, Non-Technical Survey, Victim Assistance, and other DRC sectors to ensure an integrated approach.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the context, including Explosive Ordnance (EO) contamination, and flag changes to EORE Team Leader.
  • Conduct direct and online EORE sessions for adults, adolescent, and children according to DRC HDP SOPs, using standard and approved methodologies.
  • As a Trainer, conduct EORE Training of Trainers (TOT) for local stakeholders.
  • Support to HMA workshops, events, and other such public events, organized by DRC.
  • Conduct Community Liaison (CL) with local communities.
  • Distribute and report on EORE informational materials to EORE Team Leader.
  • Contribute to the development of EORE (informational) materials, methodologies, and tools.
  • Comply with EORE SOP and TMP, flagging issues with its implementation to EORE Team Leaders, EORE Quality Management (QM) Specialist, and EORE Coordinator.
  • Use developed Information Management (IM) tools to share EORE activity data to DRC IM Team and EORE Team Leader.
  • Ensure all work equipment is in good condition and accounted for, report any gaps or damages to EORE Team Leader, and support them in warehouse upkeep.
  • Ensures that all EORE data and Means of Verifications are uploaded timely to the online EORE archive and hard-copy documents are stored.
  • Contribute to procurement efforts, including developing the required documentation and liaison with DRC Supply Chain Team.
  • Support EORE Facilitators, their work, and contribute to their capacity development.
  • Cooperate during EORE (internal and external) monitoring as well as in-country or HQ Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
  • Contribute to the lessons learnt reports on EORE activities.

About you

To be successful in the role of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education Team Lead, we expect you to demonstrate proactivity in Explosive Ordnance Risk Education process and the ability to lead multi gender teams by respecting core competencies of DRC. You are expected to correctly monitor compiling of task folders and reporting system of DRC HDP sector. Moreover, you should be able to describe working knowledge of DRC national staff rules and understand recruitment process. You are expected to demonstrate understanding of DRC procurement procedures. Also we expect the following:

  • Explosive Ordnance Risk Education Qualification.
  • Experience in HMA EORE activities.
  • DRC E-learning mandatory courses.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian language.
  • Basic knowledge of English language will be an advantage.
