Major Function

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks an Extern, Strategic Planning and Finance on the Earth for Life team at our Washington, DC office. This role involves supporting conservation planning and financial models for Project Finance for Permanence (PFP). The Extern will support concrete deliverables to support ongoing PFP planning processes. The Extern will report to a Manager of Strategic Planning and Finance in the Earth for Life Initiative.

Salary: The expected Pay Transparency rate for this position is $33,450.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze available information to develop key inputs for the Bolivia PFP conservation plan and financial model. This may include analyses on baseline protected area funding; elucidating patterns in the government’s 10-year protected area budget; among others as identified with the position’s manager.
  • Contribute to the integration of community considerations in the Bolivia PFP conservation plan by proposing ways of addressing the recommendations from bioeconomy assessments.
  • Support detailed revisions to the PFP cost and financial model as part of the process to approve the proposal for Green Climate Fund resources for the Peru PFP.
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the position’s manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a management, finance or conservation-related field preferred
  • At least two years’ experience in management consulting, business, finance or conservation (or equivalent) required.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent quantitative, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be client-focused, and enjoy problem solving and working with teams spread across different time zones
  • High degree of flexibility, and ability to work against deadlines (including some nights and weekends), and under frequently-changing circumstances
  • Tactful, organized, persistent, comfortable with occasional ambiguity, sense of humor
  • Must be willing to travel 15% of the time to developing countries, on short notice
  • Must be fluent in English; fluency in Spanish, Portuguese or French a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Internet research
