An exciting opportunity has become available for the right candidate to join 54 Reasons within our Secondary Family Support Program. The Family Support Specialist role works with families and children, providing Case Management services with the aim of achieving positive and sustainable long-term change for children and young people.

In this part time (9 day fortnight), maximum term role (through to end of December 2024, with potential for extension), you’ll work as part of our Secondary Family Support team in Brisbane to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. The Family Support Specialist plays an important role in delivering on our vision of a better world for children. Whether it’s supporting families to create positive change or empowering children and young people to feel heard, you’ll be contributing to our commitment to children in Australia, the Pacific and around the world.

 

You will make a difference by:

  • Using a Case Management Framework to address any identified barriers families may be facing in the areas of housing, parenting capacity, community supports, education and child development
  • Developing rapport and positive working relationships with family members in line with our practice frameworks, specifically our Cultural Framework and Child iview and Child Protection Practice Framework
  • Using a strengths- based, trauma informed and child-centred approach to develop case management goals and support families to work toward these goals, making referrals to other services where appropriate

Bringing your best every day, means:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or another relevant Human Services Degree, or significant equivalent experience
  • Experience working with families, children and young people
  • Experience providing case management to people of diverse backgrounds, including children and young people
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Current Driver’s Licence
