The USAID’s Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh project (ACTB) is working to establish a dynamic and fresh approach to accelerate Bangladesh’s fight against TB. The solutions aimed at creating an environment aligned with the universal health coverage (UHC) vision and focused on defined priority areas – increased TB detection, decentralized DR-TB management, improving detection and management of child TB, expanded prevention, and others.

The Field Attendants will report to the Programme Assistant. The position holder will be responsible for Active Case Finding (ACF) for TB at the health facilities in different districts and upazilas of different Divisions of Bangladesh under ACTB activity areas. S/he will be involved in-

  • Identify TB presumptive by screening attending patients at the facilities, by using screening tools approved by the National TB Control Programme (NTP);
  • Referral of the TB presumptive to the respective physicians of the facilities (UHC/DH/MCH) for further evaluation;
  • Ensure all TB-related investigations are completed by the presumptive according to the physician’s advice (repeated counseling, follow-up, and assisting in test completions), again refer to the physicians with the test reports for TB evaluation;
  • Ensure TB treatment enrollment if any TB patient is diagnosed by the physician and follow-up of the TB cases and the presumptive as required;
  • Conduct TB contact investigations at households of index cases identified through the ACF activities;
  • Collect and document patients’ information using Tab, and maintain necessary hard copy registers;
  • Maintain coordination with field staff, govt. Health officials, officials of concerned partner NGOs;
  • Other tasks related to ACTB activities are assigned by the supervisor (Communication, reporting, follow-up, etc).

Required qualifications and experience:

  • H.S.C. passed or equivalent degree obtained
  • Minimum 1-year working experience in the health sector, however candidates having experience working in TB screening will be given preference.

Location:

  • Dhaka Division: Dhaka, Narsingdi, Manikganj, Naraynganj, Gazipur, and Tangail districts (in Upazila level)
  • Chattogram Division: Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, and Laksmipur districts (both in District and Upazila level)

Contract Type and Duration:

  • Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Number of Positions: 100 (Approx)


Salary & benefits:

  • Tk.17,960/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b.
