The Program for HIV and AIDS under the Health System and Population Studies Division (HSPSD) at icddr,b provides good quality HIV prevention services to key populations at risk of HIV infection since 2010. This has been made possible by working with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), donors, NGOs and CBOs. Recently, the Program for HIV and AIDS has taken several initiatives to reach Hard-to-reach community groups with an innovative service delivery approach.

Key responsibilities:

The Field Organizer will report to the Assistant Program Manager and will be responsible for contacting and motivating the key populations to enroll on the project activities as well as monitor and supervise the project participants frequently at the field sites to enable them to initiate socially acceptable livelihood measures sustainably. S/he will be involved in –

  • Support the project team to communicate and enroll the key population (KP) into various projects;
  • Conduct regular field visits to the enrolled KPs to monitor their progress and update the APM regularly following the project guidelines and checklist;
  • Develop social-media-based networks among sexual and gender-diverse people and maintain effective communication to prepare them for receiving HIV prevention services;
  • Provide HIV testing services using HIV self-testing approach;
  • Liaise with the People Living with HIV (PLHIV) for care, support, and treatment services at GoB ART centres;
  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality while recording KPs data;
  • Linking clients with physicians for the management of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and General Health (GH) services;
  • Conduct online discussion sessions to raise awareness of HIV and STI.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • HSC pass or equivalent. Education qualifications may be relaxed for Key Populations (MSM/MSW/Hijra);
  • At least 1 year of experience in any health-related/social development-related project/ program. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with key populations at risk of HIV and AIDS at the field level or who belong to the community (MSM, MSW, Hijra).

Number of Positions: 01

Contract Type and Duration:

  • Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Tk.14,160/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr, b and subsidized canteen. Transport and Daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
