The Maternal and Child Health division of icddr,b is monitoring and evaluating the performance of Strategic Partnership Project of KOICA and Save the Children, collaborating with Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) and Local Government Institutions (LGI) titled “Strengthening the Maternal and Neonatal Health System in Rangpur, Bangladesh”. The primary objective of the project is to improve service utilization rate and achieve the long-term goal of reducing MMR and NMR in the Rangpur division of Bangladesh.
Key responsibilities:
The Field Research Officer will report to the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing research with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. S/he will be involved in –
- Understand protocols developed by Principal Investigator, analyze protocol for the feasibility of field implementation and provide inputs on protocol and methodologies;
- Implement the field activities through appropriate planning and execution like Train field staff;
- Match field site demographics and protocol requirements to identify target locations/households for the research study;
- Monitor and ensure quality data/sample collection, Resolve field related issues etc. as per protocol;
- Supervise data and sample collection activities of field staff, arrange proper sample transportation and organize training, meeting and workshop when necessary;
- Mentor and train staff on-the-job in the field; Provide feedback to supervisor on team members’ performance in order to have a strong and motivated team, conduct extensive field visits, if needed;
- Provide purchase receipts and requests for petty cash to Finance team;
- Prepare final report for submission to supervisor and revise the final report based on feedback received from supervisor.
- Arrange logistical requirements for project implementation (e.g. creating copies of training material, scheduling trainings) in order to support project execution.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Masters in any displine;
- 5 years of relevant work experience;
- Experience in TAB base data collection/management using SurveyCTO, google platform and MS Excel;
- Adequate knowledge on field research works, and quantitative and qualitative data collection. Motivational skills. Training skills. Interviewing skills.

Contract Type and duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk. 57,048 /-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
