This position is located in the Crisis Coordination Center (CCC)/Security Operation Centre (SOC)/Radio Room with the Security Section within the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Baghdad. The Field Security Assistant G6 reports to Security Officer /Head of CCC/SOC on all related security operation matters.
Responsibilities
Within the delegated authority, the Field Security Assistant will carry out the following functions:
• Ensures all SOC Assistants perform duties according to SOC procedures, builds capacity and ensures staff are trained in all security communication systems and monitors staff performance.
• Ensures that all SOC Assistants develop the capacity of handling all security communication systems in the Security Operations Centre.
• Coordinates monitoring and control of communications network to ensure security and discipline.
• Assists the CCC/SOC Head of Unit in coordinating security-related crises and assist to manage safety and security incidents.
• Drafts CCC flash reports, advisories, alerts, warnings and their timely distribution to the UNSMS organizations at the duty station once the CCC is activated.
• Assists the CCC/SOC Head of Unit in coordination of operational security issues with the organizations of the UNSMS in Iraq.
• Coordinates technical support for the CCC/SOC i.e. follow up with FTS, security logistics, and other concerned departments/units in resolving technical problems affecting the effective functioning of CCC/SOC.
• Contributes to CCC/SOC operations i.e. responding to emergencies, incidents management, broadcasting security advisories and information circulars
• Liaises where necessary, with designated host government security, safety, and emergency personnel at the working level to facilitate fact-findings and recommendations.
• Exchanges security related information with mission components at the working level and UN agencies in the same area to ensure an awareness of the current security issues, as needed.
• Produces incident-based security and travel advisories.
• Prepares quarterly and other routine security reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Driving permit is desirable.
Physical fitness is required.
Training in communication equipment and computers is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of Seven (07) years of progressively responsible experience in security services with a military, police, private security company or UN security management system is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 5 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Experience in Security Operations Center and Crises Coordination Center is desirable..
Experience in handling communication equipment is desirable.
Experience and exposure at the international level and or experience working in International Organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in both English and Arabic is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
