This position is located in the Safety and Security Section in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, MONUSCO, in Goma. The Field Security Assistant reports to the Chief of the Special Investigations Unit under the overall supervision of the Principal Security Advisor.
Responsibilities
Within limits of delegated authority and depending on location, the field Security Assistant will carry out the following duties: • Prepares daily and weekly work schedules and various periodic reports. Investigate security related incidents (including preliminary cases of alleged misconduct, road traffic accidents) involving UN personnel and prepare comprehensive investigation reports. • In the event of emergencies and incidents, alerts relevant units and dispatch security personnel to the site under the direction of the supervisor. • Maintains logs and rosters and initiates chronological logs of events during emergency situations. • Provides information and directions to all persons associated with the organization. • Controls pedestrians and vehicular traffics. • Alerts for any potential or actual breaches of security and any disturbances or unusual activity and reports these immediately. • Assists with the preparation of reports and documentation, including statistical or investigative findings. Coordinates meetings to review investigations and related subjects. • Ensures that all UN property being carried from the complex is checked for appropriate documentation. • Performs other related duties as required.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of English is desirable.

This job opening is to identify the most qualified candidate for the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). Candidates endorsed by the LRP but not selected will be placed on the Field Security Assistant, (GL-3) roster.
