Background:
Welthungerhilfe is a private, non-profit-making, politically independent and non-denominational organization that supports people living in deprivation and poverty, irrespective of the color of their skin, their religious beliefs or their worldview. WHH is working in the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian aid, relief aid, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.
Welthungerhilfe (WHH) operates inside Idleb, Syria since 2017 remotely from regional office in Gaziantep/Turkey through implementing partners. WHH implements projects directly inside Syria since 2018, as well. Welthungerhilfe set up an office in A’zaz, Syria in 2018 in order to start direct implementation of projects in the fields of emergency response humanitarian and relief aid. Ever since, Welthungerhilfe increased it’s self implementation activities and opened office inAfrin as well WHH has distributed food baskets, food&hygiene and agricultural vouchers in the IDP camps,villages and cities in A’zaz and Afrin. Welthungerhilfe aims to sustain the humanitarian aid projects, and increase the resilience of IDPs and Host Communities in the region.
Overall Roles:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Project, Senior Project Officer in the Gaziantep office and the Field Coordinator in Syria office. The field team leader works closely with IDPs and host communities in the project location. The Field Team Leader also supervises the partner activities and prepares reports on the activities. He/She ensures accountability by functional and effective feedback mechanisms. The tasks of the Field Team Leader shall be:
- Performs project activities according to WHH’s guidelines.
- Communicates with service providers to ensure effective and appropriate interventions and follow-up.
- Ensures that assigned activity is implemented successfully and in a timely manner.
- Follow-up with the vendors during implementation
- Maintains accurate and confidential beneficiary records and keeps track of all necessary figures and data related to services under project activities and respects confidentiality and the rights of the beneficiaries
- Takes a role in market assessments, monitoring prices, registration and verification process of beneficiaries in/off camps throughout the project.
- Through relationships with persons of concern and network of partners stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment.
- Provides regular and accurate reporting on project activities as required and requested by supervisors.
- Through relationships with persons of concern and network of partners stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment.
- Reports all incidents in the field to the Field Coordinator promptly.
- Works in close collaboration with other members of the team to ensure an integrated approach to meet the other basic needs of the affected population
- Supports the Field Coordinator in identifying suppliers, services and locations needed for the project.
- The Field Team Leader is expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to the beneficiaries and to Welthungerhilfe’s’ Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, and Provision of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.
- The Field Team Leader must ensure all interventions adhere to Welthungerhilfe’s’ Gender Policy, Do No Harm principles, and beneficiary accountability standards.
- Behaving in mutual respect to other team members as part of work friendly environment.
- Undertaking other project tasks as required.
- Visit partner activities and supervise.
Required Qualifications:

- Position open to Syrian nationals only – Education: University degree preferred, in International Development, Cultural Studies, Human Rights, Social Work, Social Science, Political Science, Anthropology, Law or other clearly related disciplines.* – Work Experience: Minimum 1-2 years professional experience in a similar position, specifically emergency intervention, community services, social work, and human rights, preferably in a non-profit organization* – Skills/knowledge:
- Experience in Cash-based Intervention projects and activities.*
- Experience in conducting assessments*
- Experience in conducting humanitarian aid distributions (vouchers, cash, agriculture, nutrition)*
- Experience in using mobile data collection tools, and/or other smartphone applications*
- Experience working in insecure and remote locations and reporting to remotely located management
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups;*
- Ability to summarize disparate information in a clear and concise manner.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Being able to travel.
- Proven analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Good level of computer literacy.*
- Social Skills;
- Ability to work in a team.

- Language Skills: – Fluency in Arabic is required. * – Working knowledge of English is advantageous.

- Familiarity with Local Context: Candidates who have work experience and knowledge of the local context in A’zaz and/or Afrin are preferred.
The Field Team Leader (Partner Activities & Self Implementation) will be obliged to maintain confidentiality regarding all information obtained in the course of his/her work during the employment at Welthungerhilfe and thereafter.
