The Program for HIV and AIDS under the Health System and Population Studies Division (HSPSD) at icddr,b provides good quality HIV prevention services to key populations at risk of HIV infection since 2010. This has been made possible by working with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), donors, NGOs and CBOs. Recently, the Program for HIV and AIDS has taken several initiatives to reach Hard-to-reach community groups with an innovative service delivery approach.

Key responsibilities:

The Field Worker will report to the Assistant Program Manager and will collect quantitative data from key populations at risk of HIV infection to enable intervention participants to enroll on specific studies. He/she is also responsible for explaining and providing HIV prevention services to the project participants and persuading them to provide biological samples (blood, urine and swab) to test Syphilis, HIV and other STIs within the guidelines of the study protocols and organizational values and guidelines. S/he will be involved in –

• Carry samples from field sites to the office;
• Carry out field activities as assigned by the PI/Supervisor;
• Assist field services as and when required;
• Maintain and organize logistics at the field office and ensure cleanliness;
• Provide logistic support to the field staff;
• Carry different office supplies, stationery and other materials to enable the smooth functioning of field activities;
• Refer project participants to the DIC/SDIC/Outlet for clinical services.

Required qualifications and experience:

• HSC pass or equivalent. Education qualifications may be relaxed for Key Populations (MSM/MSW/Hijra);
• At least 1 year of relevant experience.

Location: HIV field sites

Number of Positions: 10

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk.9,690/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr, b and subsidized canteen. Transport and Daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
