This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days/month in the office. You can be based in any of our offices in Washington DC, Africa or India. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. To be eligible for this position in US, you must be a resident of DC, Maryland or Virginia at the start of employment.

Job Highlight:

You will be responsible for integrating equity into your work.
In this role, you will provide finance, operations, and administrative support to WRI’s Global Equity Program. You will coordinate operations for the Land & Resource Rights Practice along with helping the Operations manager with tasks on other Equity projects. You will also provide logistical support and administrative coordination.

Your responsibilities include managing budgets, reporting to donors, processing contract and subgrant agreements, ensuring grant compliance, and liaising between project staff and core functions.
You will also support the Global Director by managing his schedule, preparing and approving expense reports and timesheets, and booking travel.
You will report to the Center for Equitable Development Operations Manager.

What will you do:

Financial Management (45%):
  • Manage all project budgets by monitoring monthly expenses, updating budget software, and projecting future expenses
  • Coordinate project financial closeout and coordinate with project teams in other project closeout processes, including financial reconciliation and reporting with the oversight of the Operations manager
  • Prepare proposal budgets and ensure agreement between proposed activities and budgets
Grant management (40%):
  • Manage project grants and contracts, including ensuring compliance with terms and conditions with the oversight of the Operations manager
  • Regularly review, update, and monitor all transactions, commitments, and revenue prospects to support healthy financial management and help prepare for quarterly projections and reviews
  • Prepare financial grant reports and track narrative reporting deadlines for project with the oversight of the Operations manager
  • Create subgrant and contract agreements with partners and contractors, including processing payments, and amending agreements
  • Communicate with sub grantees on financial reporting requirements and required progress reports and facilitate resolution of grantee questions
Administration (15%):
  • Managing Global Director’s calendar
  • Arrange travel for Global Director, assist with visa applications, and assemble trip materials (meeting schedule, talking points, event information, etc.)
  • Prepare and monitor expense reports and ensure that all Director travel is charged to the correct codes
  • Provide monthly timesheet guidance to Equity Center staff
What will you need:

  • Education: You have a completed Bachelor’s Degree. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree is accepted
  • Experience: You have minimum 2 years of full-time experience working in operations
  • Strong process orientation with sensitivity to quality
  • Requirement: Work authorization is required. WRI cannot provide visa sponsorship for this opportunity
Potential Salary: US salary range is between 57,000 and 64,000 USD. If located in another country office, salary will be determined by local market conditions. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
