Organizational Setting
The Division of Budget and Finance manages the financial resources essential for full implementation of the IAEA’s scientific and technical programmes. The Division provides financial services and solutions for programme budgeting, treasury, payments, payroll, financial accounting and reporting to support the IAEA’s mandate.
Main Purpose
As a member of the team led by a Unit Head, the Finance Assistant reviews, oversees and approves financial transactions such as payments to suppliers and other contractors, payments of salaries and other benefits and entitlements to staff and payments for all travel and meetings related expenses.
Functions / Key Results Expected
• Review payments to suppliers and other contractors, payments of salaries and other benefits and entitlements to staff, payments for all travel and meetings related expenses and other miscellaneous payments and approve payments within delegated monetary limits to ensure compliance with established rules and procedures.
• Verify and process complex financial transactions such as advances, prepayments and other payments in accordance with the terms of agreements and contracts.
• Perform periodic monitoring and oversee financial transactions in the Accounts Payable module by reviewing exceptions and variance reports and take the necessary actions to resolve any exceptions/discrepancies.
• Perform periodic reconciliation of accounts payable/receivable accounts and take the necessary follow-up actions to clear outstanding items by preparing the necessary adjusting vouchers.
• Assist with the gathering, compilation and analysis of financial data needed to perform the assigned activities relating to the financial year-end closure.
• Identify and recommend system and process improvements. Participate in the design, testing and implementation of new or revised changes or Accounts Payable systems upgrades.

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills
Completed secondary education. Higher education in accounting, finance or directly related fields would be an advantage.
Certificate/Coursework/Training in accounting, finance or directly related fields desirable.
A minimum of six years of relevant experience in finance, accounting or directly related fields, some of which in an international organization.
Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
Administrative skills test to IAEA standard may be part of the process.
Remuneration
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 64965 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks’ annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
