Purpose of the Job:
The purpose of finance coordinator position is to ensure that adequate financial management routines and systems are in place in the area level and that NRC’s accounting practices and standards are adhered to, and are in accordance with quality and policy requirements from NRC, donors, auditors and local authorities and meanwhile Finance Coordinator is responsible to provide day to day leadership on implementation of all Finance functions in NRC West Area Office. S/he will take an active role in supporting field based finance staff comply with NRC and donor guidelines and lead on all Finance activities conducted in NRC West Area Office. The role will provide technical line management to Finance staff in Badghis and Nimroz field offices and any other sub-offices.

Generic Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
- Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
- Prepare and develop status reports, financial reports and donor repots as required by management
- Ensure proper filing of documents
- Support line managers in procedures and required support team trainings
- promote exchange of information and cooperation with relevant department in the office as well as with Project managers and coordinators
- Ensure that the accounting, monitoring and reporting are according to procedures
- Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the area
- Ensure development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures
Specific Responsibilities:
- Facilitate monthly Budget versus Actual (BvA) reports with budget holder and follow up on action points
- Assist budget holder in preparation of draft budgets
- Maintain updated Master Budget
- Check and verify NRC Afghanistan payrolls before payments are made
- Assist Support Manager in preparation of field Z cost coverage and ensure that these costs are correctly charged
- Ensure that new donor requirements are taken on board and understood by Finance staff in the Area Office and Sub-Offices
- Provide up-to-date analysis and required reports of the financial status of all projects to the Support Manager, Area Manager, Programme Managers, Project Coordinators and Field Office Coordinators
- Set-up effective financial management and monitoring systems in Sub-Offices
- Ensure that budgeting, financial reporting and other financial processes take place in adherence to Financial Handbook, other NRC policies and donor, auditor and the authorities requirements
Generic professional competencies:
- At least 5 years’ progressive experience working in Finance – preferably with a reputable non-profit organization
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
