About the Program:

The NDC Partnership brings together more than 200 members, including more than 120 countries, developed, and developing, and more than 80 institutions to create and deliver on ambitious climate action that helps achieve the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Governments identify their NDC implementation priorities and the type of support that is needed to translate them into actionable policies and programs. Based on these requests, the membership offers a tailored package of expertise, technical assistance, and funding. This collaborative response provides developing countries with efficient access to a wide range of resources to adapt to and mitigate climate change and foster more equitable and sustainable development.

This position is hybrid and will require a few days per week in our Washington DC office.

What you will do:

As a Finance Intern, you will assist with the private sector engagement and finance-related work of the NDC Partnership. Your primary responsibility will be to support the PRivate Sector Engagement work of the Partnership, as well as provide support to the Climate Finance Hub in their technical, operational, and communication activities. You will be supported by the Climate Finance Hub at the NDC Partnership, a team of experts focused on different workstreams, including Mainstreaming and Institutional Matchmaking, and the Center of the Taskforce on Access to Climate Finance.

Internship Learning Outcomes:

Maintain and update private sector contacts and identify relevant private sector stakeholders for different elements of the Private Sector Engagement Framework.

• Analyze and categorize the private sector data for relevant work streams.

• Lead the integration and maintenance of private sector contacts into the Partnership’s CRM.

• Help track the status of private sector engagement opportunities.

• Help develop knowledge products related to private sector engagement and Climate Finance Hub (e.g., blogs).

• Research and analyze the private sector and finance-related data from the NDC Partnership’s knowledge management system (kNook) and other internal systems.

• Help organize calls, events and convenings.

• Attend meetings when required and take meeting minutes.

• Participate in regular team meetings and report to your supervisor weekly.

• Support other/ad hoc activities as needed.

What you will need:

• Pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, social or natural sciences or related area.

• Experience working on climate finance topics and with the private sector.

• General awareness and interest of climate finance and environment domain.

• Research, interpersonal, written, and communication skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

• Comfort with quantitative and qualitative data and analysis.

• Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.

• Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

• Ability to work calmly under high pressure.

• Strong attention to detail.

Compensation

The pay for this internship opportunity is$20/hourfor undergrads; $22/hour for graduates and $24/hour for PhD students.

Length of Contract:

This is a full-time, 6-month internship with a flexible start and end date.

Location:

• This is a hybrid internship that will be based out of our Washington D.C. office. You will be required to work in the Washington DC office at least 8 days per month.
