Job Description
The Vanuatu Community-based Climate Resilience Project (VCCRP) is the largest community-based adaptation project ever delivered in the Pacific. Principally funded under the Green Climate Fund (GCF), it has been designed to reduce the climate-related vulnerabilities of communities across all six provinces of Vanuatu. It will increase communities’ resilience to climate variability, extremes, and change, to ensure a good quality of life in the face of continuing climate change.

The VCCRP is a partnership between the Vanuatu Government through the Ministry of Climate Change and Save the Children, working alongside the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Lands, and Ministry of Justice and Community Services.

Where you come in:

In this fulltime contract position based in Port Vila , Efate, you will be line manage by the VCCRP Team Leader and supporting daily delivery of financial activities in collaboration with Ministry of Climate Change, Save the Children and other partners in line with compliance requirements.

You will make an impact by:

Leading financial management and oversight of the project in

  • Program related financial activities.
  • Check and manage finance processes.
  • Build finance capacity of Project, ministry and the organisation team
  • Commits and advocates for Save the Children’s purpose and values in all interactions
  • Careful, accountable, responsible, punctual and has a high regard for safety
  • A team player – friendly, caring, helpful, reliable
  • Good personal grooming and professional presentation
  • Willing to work irregular hours or overtime if required-for travel to communities
  • Safe to work with or around children

…You have financial skills, willing to learn, adhere to policy & guidelines and able to work as a team. Having , flexible and happy to take on additional responsibility.

This role requires:

  • Significant experience in humanitarian or development programming and financial and budget management
  • Experience in identification and management of organisational and operational risks
  • Ability to analyse strategic trends and develop appropriate plans and responses
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment and to strict deadlines
  • Well-developed customer service focus (both internal and external stakeholders)
  • High levels of attention to detail and quality
  • Computer literacy (including excel skills)
