The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. The employment location will be Kyiv, Ukraine.

Alliance15 members Welthungerhilfe (WHH), Concern Worldwide and Cesvi are working together in Ukraine using their combined resources and reach, to ensure a quick and effective emergency response to assist the crisis-affected population. This response, known as JERU (Joint Emergency Response Ukraine), is working inside of Ukraine to support conflict affected communities

As Finance Officer in our JERU team, with your international experience in finance and administration in humanitarian projects, your aim will be to provide financial administrative support to projects and programmes in Ukraine.

Your responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Finance during project proposals with preparation of budgets as per required donor templates
  • With the support of the partner finance team, assist national partners on preparation of budgets and costing of activities and integrate them in the consolidated budget
  • Liaise with Heads of Project for costing of planned activities and other project needs
  • Liaise with Heads of Project to ensure all expenditures are allocated correctly to each project during monthly budget monitoring
  • Follow up with Heads of Projects to ensure expenditure planning and donor income planning are done correctly and on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Liaise with Heads of Projects and the Head of Programmes to notify them on time if there’s any material forecasted overspending/underspending
  • Draft interim and final financial reports for review of Head of Finance and Heads of Projects
  • Draft ad-hoc reports for JERU members as requested
  • Assist Head of Finance during donor project audits and expenditure verification exercise by preparing the documents for review
  • Support the Head of Finance in following-up donor audit reports and implementation of recommendations
  • Support the Head of Finance in developing and reviewing internal processes related to finance management

Your profile

  • A univerity or polytechnic degree in a relevant field such as finance, accounting and/or controlling
  • 3-5 years of international experience in financial management of humanitarian programmes
  • EU, German, OCHA Donor experience is an advantage
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English; Ukrainian language skills are desirable
