Duties and Responsibilities
Back Ground
The post is located in the Facilities Management Section (FMS) Division of Administration (DoA), at the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA)under the direct supervision of the Cleaning and Gardening Supervisor in Facilities Management Section (FMS), (UNECA), the IC Cleaning Staff is responsible for the following duties:
Duties and Responsibilities
I. Keep standard of internal and external cleanliness of the ECA premises:
– Empty and clean waste basket and ashtrays, dust desk, shelves, furniture, telephone apparatus, sweep wet moping, vacuuming and shampooing rug and carpet, dust mop, sweep wet mop, spray buff floors;
– Keep restrooms clean and supply with paper, towels, soap and other items, keep clean waste receptacles;
– Keep clean vertical blinds, vertical curtains, light switch, spot on furniture’s, partitions’ walls, elevators’ walls, mirror and doors including windows, parking, exterior and fountains around buildings;
– Keep clean decorated and public area;
– Report on every incident and work requests for FMS (repairs) to the supervisor;
– Work will include individual tasks, assigned areas, and rotation of staff, reassignment or team cleaning as scheduled by supervisor or assigned IC cleaning team leader;
II. Provide information on needed civil works or out-of-order electrical and mechanical appliances to team leader to allow remedial action.
– Report to Supervisor any defects observed as light fixtures, plumbing, hand-wash basins and the like and report if malfunctioning is observed;
– Report on lost and found items to the FMS cleaning supervisor and Security Officers on duty;
III. Assign FMS tradesmen and contractors on preparation and housekeeping of jobs. Work may include:
– Cleaning/sanding/surface preparation of equipment/facilities before painting cleaning during/after work underway;
– Assisting tradesmen with minor unskilled labor/assistance or similar activities to achieve successful project/work orders;
Recycling, shredding, working with cleaning contractor/supervisor on special projects,
– Driving/operating cleaning/road cleaning/pressure washing machinery
IV. Perform other related duties
-Facilitate the daily attendance of IC contractors and report their monthly payment format to FMS Cleaning Supervisor..
-Assigned and monitor the IC Contractors on their designated area including the civil work in the premises.
-Distribution of tissue paper on Niger building rest rooms on daily basis and monitor the consumption of tissue paper in the compound.
– Request the cleaning item consumption and receive from General store.
-Assisting the cleaning supervisor in every direction and make cleaning inspection in the compound and ES Residence
that it meets specifications, established standards and work are completed on time.
-Collecting the outside cleaning contractors attendance and monitor the number of staff in the premises.
-Communicate effectively with garbage collectors and ensure timely collection and disposal of garbage from the compound.
-Report every cleaning and Gardening issues to FMS Cleaning supervisor.
-Work closely with FMS Civil team and assist the FMS maintains crew accordingly.
– Perform other related works as required and instructed by FMS Cleaning supervisor.
Qualifications/special skills
Highschool completion is required.
Cleaning anf housekeeping skill and coordination skill are required
Languages
Fluency in listening and spoken English is required.
