Position Objective
Our team is seeking a Full-Stack Web Developer to join us. The ideal candidate will have experience in both web development and data management and will be responsible for developing web applications optimized for performance, scalability, user-friendliness, and security.

Purpose

  • Lead, whether in the back, font-end or middleware layers, the design, development and maintenance of user-friendly web applications using modern web technologies.
  • Architect and maintain APIs to integrate complex data from various sources, such as internal databases, third-party data providers, and online sources, ensuring the performance and scalability of solutions.
  • Implement advanced security measures, including access controls, encryption, and real-time monitoring to safeguard data privacy and system integrity.

Engagement

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data into business processes and informed decision-making.
  • Lead the Development Team in creating and optimizing User Interfaces that meet the evolving functional requirements of our internal and external stakeholders, while balancing their expectations with technical constraints.
  • Develop and implement strategies for user training and onboarding, ensuring that internal and external stakeholders can effectively utilize developed systems and applications.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, ensuring the feasibility of technical solutions and stakeholder satisfaction.

Delivery

  • Design and build reusable code, libraries and frameworks for existing applications and future use.
  • Lead the development team in implementing best practices in software development, security and project management, while adapting workflows to meet project-specific requirements.
  • Ensure continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines are optimized for efficient and secure software deployment.
  • Capture and disseminate lessons learned and best practices throughout the project lifecycle to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the Development Team in other administrative work as required.

Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

  • Master’s degree in information technology, software development, applications development, or a relevant field. Bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree requirement.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience as a full-stack web developer, data management, or related roles, with proven leadership in data integration and application development.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, and React.
  • Experience with Node.js is required. Experience with PHP is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience in designing and managing databases (such as SQL Server and PostgreSQL) and optimizing database queries.
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
  • Experience leading the development of AI-based solutions will be an advantage.
  • Deep understanding of Agile development methodologies, version control systems such as Git, and team collaboration in fast-paced environments.
  • Proven ability to liaise with Business Process Owners, translating complex operational needs onto actionable technical requirements.
  • Work experience in international organizations is a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position, knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
