ABOUT THE ROLE

The Transparency International Secretariat is currently seeking a Fundraising Coordinator (m/f/d) for Institutional Giving, with a special focus on EC funding. As a member of the Fundraising Team, the Fundraising Coordinator will play an important role in the implementation of the institutional giving strategy, including the diversification and growth of income form this segment.

The role will require a deep knowledge of proposal design and development and a real desire to work in a complex international environment. A strong character that is able to reflect on concepts, processes, and work performance and then adjust their thinking and advice will be important. Good existing contacts, or the ability to build new relationships and to communicate effectively with donors is essential.

Collaboration and partnership will be a key feature of the working environment, and so will the ability to be self-motivated and driven to achieve success. The Fundraising Team works to support the delivery of TI-S’s priorities within the context of our global strategy 2030 – Holding Power to Account.

OVERVIEW OF KEY DIMENSIONS
Role Purpose: The Fundraising Coordinator (m/f/d) will develop proposals for institutional donors and grant making foundations, taking responsibility for and partnering in proposal design and development, submission and reporting, with a particular focus on the European Commission.

Reporting Line: Head of Fundraising

Band: salary according to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF2 salary starting EUR 42,000 gross per year depending on relevant experience

Starting Date: as soon as possible

Contract Duration: Currently we can offer an employment contract limited for a duration of 2 years. There is a prospect of extension subject to organizational need continuing, performance proven and funding confirmed and there is interest in a stable and long-term cooperation.

Working Hours: full-time [100%; 40 hours per week]

Location: Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S), role will may be based in Brussels/Belgium or  Berlin/Germany  (tbc)

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Based in the Fundraising Team and reporting to the Head of Fundraising, the Fundraising Coordinator will:

  • Develop highly competitive grant proposals for bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors
  • Coordinate proposal design, drafting and submission with TI-S teams and chapters
  • Coordinate with institutional fundraising team to develop strategy for comprehensive and strategic engagement with the EC and DGs
  • Coordinate and work with TI-S teams to ensure active, consistent and constructive engagement with the European Commission Policy Forum for Development and other relevant civil society forums
  • Develop and expand partnerships with other global and regional civil society umbrella organisations, particularly Brussels based organisations
  • Advocate for increased funding for civil society on issues related to anti-corruption
  • Identify and meet regularly with relevant EC counterparts to foster strong relationships and create new partnership opportunities
  • Organize donor showcase and engagement opportunities in Brussels to promote the work and visibility of TI’s work across its Strategy
  • Support Movement-wide fundraising capacity building initiatives
  • Research grant opportunities and support the conceptual development of high-quality proposals in line with strategic priorities
  • Steward donors and prospect on behalf of TI-S and the Movement and develop effective engagement opportunities
  • Coordinate day-to-day processes to ensure work is completed in an efficient and timely manner, ensuring fundraising deliverables meet quality standards
  • Provide advice on project, programme, and contract design, donor rules and regulations, in particular European Commission
  • Advise and assist TI colleagues, and at times lead proposal development, contract negotiations, and donor reporting
  • Coordinate and/or contribute to team projects and provide input on the development of fundraising strategies, policies and procedures, taking into account best practice to realize the overall TI-S fundraising strategy

CANDIDATE PROFILE

In order to succeed in this role, candidates will need to meet the following:

  • University degree in International Relations, other political, economic or social science disciplines, or other relevant fields
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience with a minimum three years of experience in fundraising, project development, proposal writing and contract negotiations with a strong focus on institutional donors and foundations
  • Strong knowledge of the international development sector and institutional funding, particularly European Commission
  • Experience of leading on successful international NGO project proposals to institutional and foundation donors
  • Solid understanding of donor funding procedures, rules and regulations, including financial budgeting and reporting
  • Strong internal communication and relationship-building skills to understand funding needs and to work efficiently and cooperatively with TI-S teams to build winning proposals
  • Solid understanding and experience with a variety of EC proposal requirements
  • Strong foundation in results-based management and ability to produce logical frameworks, MEL plans in consultation with other team members
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to produce engaging fundraising materials
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with strong attention to detail, capable of working under pressure and against deadlines and meeting demanding goals
  • High level of ambition and drive; ability to translate opportunities into practical plans of action and work proactively using own initiative
  • Ability to critically reflect on work and processes
  • Excellent communication, impeccable presentation and strong networking skills to maintain and develop relationships with existing and prospective donors, responding to their requests in a timely manner
  • Professional language proficiency in English essential; other languages are beneficial
