This position will be hybrid requiring a few days per week in the office. You can be based in The Hague or London. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission. WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position.

 

This is a limited-term position ending 31 March 2025, which may be extended depending on budget.

 

About the Program:

Cities are key in achieving a net-zero, resilient and inclusive future. They represent 80% of global GDP and contribute with almost 70% of global emissions and 75% of energy related emissions. Today, they are home for 50% of the global population and by 2050 this number will increase to 2/3. More than 2.5 billion urban dwellers will move to cities by 2050, 90% of them in Africa and Asia. The WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities is dedicated to shaping a future where cities work better for everyone. Through its network of global and local experts, the Ross Center supports city- and national-level change for people and the planet, focusing on integrated solutions to new and long-standing urban challenges, primarily in the Global South.

 

The Urban Efficiency & Climate team supports cities in adopting an integrated approach to transforming the built environment, cleaning the air, and tackling the causes and impacts of climate change. We do this by helping cities make connections between environmental, social, and economic goals, using science to guide policymaking, and through facilitating collaboration and coalition building among the many stakeholders that impact cities. We also support the development of global standards and data platforms and provide direct technical assistance to cities.

Job Highlight:

 

Reporting to the Director, Urban Efficiency and Climate, you will coordinate and help develop new project proposals and engagement with funders.

 

What will you do:

 

  • Map and track the fundraising landscape and relevant opportunities
  • Coordinate and support the three Global Leads for Integrated Climate Action, Built Environment and One Atmosphere to develop fundraising strategies, concept notes, and proposals
  • Ensure effective coordination with the Cities Development and Global Fundraising teams, other Programmes and International Offices across WRI, and external partners
  • Write, proofreading and review of proposals
  • Support funder and partner engagement and develop fundraising materials
  • Maintain project plans, and proposal development and fundraising trackers using Asana
  • Contribute to the development of high-quality communications and knowledge products and support their dissemination to share insight and lessons learned with relevant partners, networks and funders

 

What will you need:

 

  • Education: You have completed a Bachelor’s degree or an Advanced degree
  • Experience: You have a minimum 3 years of work experience in fundraising with governments, multilaterals and philanthropies in a global think-tank, non-for profit organization, international research institute or multilateral institution
  • Familiarity with international development, climate and clean air
  • Strong communications and negotiation skills, experience developing compelling power points and a track record in developing winning proposals
  • Proofreading experience developing and reviewing proposals for donors
  • Effective project management approach, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and able to take initiate
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving, and analytical capabilities
  • Working knowledge of Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems, mainly Salesforce
  • Experience working across different cultures, languages and time zones.
  • Languages: Verbal and written English proficiency. Other language skills desirable
  • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization

 

Potential Salary: The salary range for this role is €49,000 to €58,000 if based in the Netherlands and £38,000 to £45,000 if based in the UK. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
