Mission and objectives
The Frontier Tech Leaders Programme is a joint initiative of UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) SDG AI Lab and UN Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries and supported by the Government of Türkiye. The Frontier Tech Leaders Programme aims to raise a new generation of tech specialists to strengthen local capacities and develop digital solutions for the LDCs (Least Developed Countries) towards achieving the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Furthermore, the initiative will inspire young people as well as promote gender equality, encouraging women to pursue tech education and careers.
Context
As part of the Frontier Tech Leaders Programme, the volunteer will contribute to the programme’s technical activities by maintaining and improving GitHub repositories related to the SDG-focused projects, Digital Solutions for Sustainable Development Goals (DS4SDGs) content and ensuring regular updates to relevant content. This will involve managing issues, supporting contributions, and pushing necessary updates while also ensuring that documentation and resources remain accessible and aligned with project objectives.
Task Description
The online volunteer will be responsible for: Monitoring, reviewing, and resolving issues raised on the GitHub repositories associated with the Frontier Tech Leaders Programme. Ensuring timely review and merging of pull requests, verifying the alignment of contributions with the repository goals. Regularly reviewing repository content, ensuring documentation, readme files, and other resources remain updated and accurate. Coordinating with programme leads to implement repository updates and new features as required. Maintaining up-to-date materials for the DS4SDGs on GitHub, including project descriptions, training content, and instructional resources. Ensuring all repositories and contributions comply with UNDP’s digital accessibility and inclusivity standards.
