Graduation Approach Advisor, Uganda RFSA

ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Graduation Approach Advisor for an upcoming Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA) in Uganda funded by USAID. The anticipated program will work to improve and sustain the food and nutrition security of vulnerable populations through multi-year resilience food and nutrition security activities. These activities work at the individual, household, community, and institutional levels to address the underlying causes of food insecurity and malnutrition and strengthen transformative opportunities.

The Graduation Approach Advisor will ensure that the social dimensions of food security and community resilience are effectively addressed across all activity components and at all levels throughout the entire award period. The program is anticipated to start in 2025 and this position will be based in Uganda.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in the development of the graduation approach in alignment with the project’s theory of change
  • Oversee participant targeting at the outset of the activity
  • Supervise the implementation of coaching, livelihoods and access to finance interventions with technical leads
  • Address the social dimensions of food security and community resilience across all activity components and levels
  • Focus on social inclusion, particularly for refugees, IDPs, marginalized populations, gender, and youth integration
  • Lead the analysis, and utilization of graduation approach data for adaptive management in collaboration with program staff
  • Ensure all components of the graduation approach create multiplier effects across and between components
  • Maintain high-quality technical implementation among all sub-awardees and implementation locations
  • Sequence, layer, and integrate technical interventions appropriately within the activity and with USAID investments, the private sector, and other donors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or relevant field is required; master’s degree is desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience implementing the graduation approach.
  • In-depth understanding of gender, age, and other socio-cultural factors in targeting participants.
  • Proven capacity to lead the collection, analysis, and utilization of information from diverse sources.
  • Excellent management, interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Strong communication skills with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to ensure high-quality technical implementation and integration of interventions.
  • Experience working in Uganda preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required.
