This position is remote-eligible and only for consideration within the United States where WRI is state registered. This position can also be based in India. About the Program:

The World Resources Institute’s Climate Program works with policymakers, businesses, civil society and other decision-makers to adapt to climate impacts and build a zero-carbon future. We produce innovative research and analysis to evaluate the technical, economic and social benefits of climate action, as well as the costs of inaction. We work with governments to design and implement near-term and long-term goals and help integrate these into economic, sectoral and development plans. At the same time, we support businesses, civil society, local governments and other non-state actors as they pursue their own emissions-reduction and adaptation goals. Through our work with different stakeholders, we aim to accelerate equitable climate action that will help the most vulnerable while helping reach global targets.

Job Highlight:

In this new position, you will lead global project management and monitoring, evaluation and learning activities for WRI’s CREST(Climate-Resilient Employees for a Sustainable Tomorrow) Initiative. You will work with research teams in the United States and India, and project management and operations leads, to ensure the project’s overall success. Additionally, you will help manage and grow WRI’s portfolio of projects engaging micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across multiple countries. You will help facilitate and build partnerships with funders, partners, and private sector leaders supporting MSMEs as they play critical roles in global supply chains and energy, food/land/water, and urban transitions. You will be based in WRI’s Climate program, with flexibility to work remotely, anchored in either our Washington DC or WRI India offices.

What will you do:

Project Management (50%):

  • Lead day-to-day project management and provide global implementation oversight of the CREST partnership. Working collaboratively with project leads, and all members of the project teams located within WRI India, WRI Global, communications and operations to ensure project success. Represent and convene project team in internal and external meetings, advocating for its strategic approach, value, and programmatic and/or operational needs
  • Establish and maintain systems and tools related to project planning, management, and delivery (ie: in Asana, DevResults, meeting cadence, information sharing, etc.), including – project milestones, grant reports, key staff changes, donor-related events, meetings, and external important events related to the grant lifecycle
  • Establish and manage Partnership work planning, budgeting and monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, which will inform adjustments to the project’s results framework, theory of change, and lessons learned
  • Ensure preparation and submission of grant reports and other donor deliverables as needed.
  • Identify and mitigate potential budget or operational risks using WRI’s risk register to inform the implementation of annual work plans, while identifying synergies across the project’s two workplans. Establish process for monitoring all Partnership-funded project budgets and financial performance via regular check-ins with PMs and/or Ops staff, flagging concerns to Director of Sustainable Business and Innovation

Stakeholder Engagement (25%):

  • Lead the team’s engagement with external partners, including donors, and other implementing partners. Working with communications team, identify/track engagement with strategic partners and audiences
  • Ensure strategic partnerships with other grantees are coordinated internally Develop proposals and budgets for new projects expanding WRI’s engagement on MSMEs in global supply chains and emerging private sector roles in just transitions

Fundraising (25%):

  • Develop and execute proposals to renew and expand funding for WRI projects with MSMEs in global supply chains
  • Coordinate with WRI’s Development team to build and steward strategic donor relationships

What will you need:

  • Education: You have a completed Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience: You have 7+ years of experience
  • You have experience managing large grants and budgets
  • You have familiarity with supply chain sustainability and small and medium businesses
  • Languages: English
  • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization

Potential Salary: Salary range is between 96,000 and 110,000 USD if based in the US. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
