  1. Role and responsibilities

The main role of the Grants Technical Officer is to provide support to the Grants Manager in the development of project documents, consolidation of reports, coordinate Project Cycle Management (PCM) processes in conjunction with different colleagues and departments. The Grants Technical Officer will support the preparation of documents for donors, organize and prepare meetings and ensure key tools for the projects are maintained and used.

Overall responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

  1. Support report writing processes, proposals and/or project modifications and ensure that they comply with project and donor requirements, NRC guidelines, strategy and policies;
  2. Ensure that grant management tools are regularly updated;
  3. Contribute to Project Cycle Management (PCM) processes and proper use of available PCM tools;
  4. Ensure deadlines are met;
  5. Promote and share ideas and initiatives for improvement of processes and tools related to grant management of projects designated to him/her;
  6. Support colleagues in other departments on compliance and grant management issues for designated projects.

Specific responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention.

  • Organize inter-departmental meetings for grant development/design, grant opening, and grant review/revision in coordination with the Grants Manager.
  • Provide support in the coordination, collection of information, drafting and delivery of quality reports to donors.
  • Support the Grants Manager in the coordination and drafting of proposals, annexes, amendments and other documents.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal systems and keep the grants and donor relations tracker up to date.
  • Ensure that key project documents are properly archived in Office 365 and that these tools are regularly updated.
  • Flexibility to undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as required.

Generic professional competencies for this position: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in office or business administration, social sciences, development, international relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Good analytical skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong writing skills and experience in organizing and preparing documentation such as reports, proposals, and other documents for third parties.
  • Experience in coordinating processes and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated capacity to efficiently multitask and meet tight deadlines.
  • First experience working with humanitarian/development projects and donors is an advantage.

Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Basic knowledge of administrative and financial procedures
  • Text editing skills (English)
  • Basic knowledge of the context in which NRC operates desirable
