Org. Setting and Reporting
Under the direct supervision of the Security Shift Supervisor and overall direction of the Head Guard/ Safety and Security Officer (SSO).
Responsibilities
The incumbent :
1- Performs the following in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
– Screens all vehicles entering and exiting the premises;
– Screens all pedestrians entering and exiting the premises; provides information, issues identification cards and directions to visitors;
– Checks, reports and prevents weapons and or armed actors wishing from entering the UNRWA premises;
– Maintains paper and computer log books, completes shift reports, incident reports and records;
-2- Conducts foot-patrols for the purpose of identifying potential malfunction of physical security measures and intercepting unauthorized persons attempting to enter the premises; as well as potential security threats to the area of coverage;
3- Reports urgent issues to the his/her supervisor and documents all non urgent findings in the shift report;
4- Identifies individuals who remove UNRWA property to ensure that they have property removal permission (i.e. Load Note) and reports violators immediately;
5- Properly responds to medical incidents with First Aid;
6- Assists in facility evacuation drills, fire drills, emergency/incident response drills, mass casualty drills and readiness drills with local first responders; responds to fires in an appropriate manner; reports fire and safety violations/hazards to his/her supervisor, works and cooperates with assigned fire/floor wardens;
7- Correctly uses security equipment such as computers (Basic computer skills), x-ray machines (walk through and baggage screening equipment), CCTV, communications equipment, etc;
8- Maintains alertness for any potential or actual breaches of security, disturbances or unusual activity and reports these to his/her supervisor;
9- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by her/his supervisor.

Education
1- Successful completion of preparatory education;
2- Successful completion of Basic Guards Course;
3- Successful completion of Advanced Guards Course;
4- Satisfactory performance in PERs for the last two years;
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of Secondary and higher education;
Work Experience
At least three years, of which two years as Guard, A02 in the Agency, of relevant experience of security guard’s duties in a recognized local business, governmental facility and/or international organization is required.
Experience in UNRWA guard force is desirable.

Languages

* Conditions of service
-Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment
– Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of
further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing

Monthly basic salary USD 812.80, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate.
** The grade of the post starts as (2), and upon satisfactory completion of the OCM experience requirements, I.e. two years as Guard, A02 in the Agency and successful completion of security courses, the incumbent will be advanced to grade (03) the full level of the post, unless the incumbent fully meets the requirement, he/ she will be appointed directly on the full level; Grade A03.

Other Information:
1- The incumbent must be mentally and physically fit;
