You will join the Department management team as Leader of CERN’s Business Computing Group, in the FAP Department (Finance and Administrative Processes) where nearly 100 talented specialists deliver information systems for most of CERN’s business functions.

The Business Computing group is a product management driven group that supports clients across the whole Organisation (HR, Finance, Planning, Safety, Security, Purchasing, Logistics, and Accelerator Operations). The type of products under the Group’s responsibility ranges from custom-made solutions for a few users to large and widely integrated systems with 15,000+ users. Hence, leading the BC Group provides numerous perspectives for being in touch with different technologies and business areas.

Functions

As Leader of the Business Computing Group, you will:

Product Management

  • Lead a team of 5 product managers;
  • As portfolio manager, co-ordinate, prioritise and monitor cross product activities;
  • Manage the financial resources of the group.

Talent Manager

  • Lead a team of section leaders (line managers);
  • Anticipate future talent needs, plan and execute new recruitments;
  • Nurture a group culture based on relentless improvement, learning and innovation.

Agile Transformation

  • Ensure further progress and maturity growth in the implementation of agile practices including the supervision of the agile coaches in the Group.

Technical Expert

  • Set direction on the modernisation of lean administration and provide a modern set of supporting IT and ERP tools by working with Enterprise Architect and Product managers to guide strategic orientation and technological choices for the business computing field.
  • Provide the user community, peers and management with technical expertise and advice.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of computer science or a related field.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading development, implementing change and business modernisation using on- and offshore teams;
  • Experience working in lean-agile environments;
  • Proven experience in JAVA development and ERP systems;
  • Proven track record of positively impacted workplace behaviours.

Technical competencies:

  • Project management;
  • Team management: ability to lead individuals to work together in self-organized high performance teams;
  • Knowledge of programming techniques and languages;
  • Development of vision and strategy.

Language skills:

Spoken and written English or French: ability to understand and speak the other language in professional contexts. Ability to draw-up technical specifications and/or scientific reports and to make oral presentations in at least one of the two languages.
