The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate – Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO) – Data & Information Solutions Department (DIS) – Data Management Division (DM) – Analytics & Reporting Solutions Unit (A&R), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Head of Data Analytics & Reporting Solutions Unit*.

This is a full time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose

Are you willing to make a substantial contribution to the EIB’s objectives by promoting the use of cutting-edge technology? As Head of Unit, you will drive and manage the development and maintenance of the EIB’s analytics, reporting, AI solutions, and associated software products such as SAP Business Objects and SAP Analytics Cloud.

Operating Network

You will work in close cooperation with the across the division and counterparts from all directorates that use the analytics, reporting and AI solutions.

Accountabilities

  • Propose ideas to develop new solutions in the area of analytics, reporting and AI with regard to the short, medium and long term to ensure that our application systems are in line with business requirements while remaining cost effective
  • Establish and manage the resources and means necessary to achieve objectives and implement work plans for projects
  • Drive projects, maintenance and support activities to ensure the reliability of applications and best quality customer service (around 1800 end-users across the EIB Group)
  • Lead the team and provide coaching and support, this includes managing a team of specialists and external consultants, setting individual objectives, reviewing performance, and providing ongoing feedback
  • Manage or participate in special initiatives that go beyond the strict boundaries of own domain and ensure the realisation within the set scope, time and budget

Qualifications

  • University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in Information Technology, Mathematics or Finance
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the IT function, particularly in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of Data Warehouse, analytics and reporting solutions, gained in the financial services sector
  • Experience or proven ability in managing or coaching people, ideally in multicultural environment or international organisation
  • Practical experience in installing, configuring, and supporting SAP BI Suite or operating SAP Cloud Analytics or any equivalent tools
  • Excellent knowledge of project management principles, methods, and practices
  • Very good experience in Data Warehouse modelling and methodologies would be an asset
  • Knowledge of service contracts and procurement would be an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
