The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of two years. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Niamey, Niger.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the financial management of the Country Office, including its refinancing, and ensure all its financial administrative processes are auditable
  • Inform SMT regularly of relevant financial developments of the Niger program, prepare risk analyses
  • Control and supervise that the liquidity planning is done in a timely manner
  • Ensure adequate budget planning and control of the CO budget, as well as supporting planning, modifications and follow-ups of project budgets
  • Contribute to the development of project proposals regarding the budgeting in cooperation with the program staff
  • Ensure timely submission of interim and final financial reports to donors
  • Supervise annual finalization of accounts of all projects and ensure timely submission to Head Office
  • Coordinate Country Office and project audits and ensure the implementation of appropriate recommendations
  • Support projects to ensure that contractual obligations and WHH standards are respected
  • Check partners’ agreements, budgets and financial reports, as well as supporting partners in financial management of the projects that they implement
  • Ensure that necessary financial manuals and instructions are available and up to date, and understood by the staff
  • Lead and manage the finance team, coordinate recruitment and induction of new staff

Your profile

  • A University or polytechnic degree in a relevant field (eg finance, accounting)
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in similar leadership positions
  • Experience in managing diverse teams and working with partners in a leading role
  • Experience of co-funded projects and an understanding of requirements of various institutional donors (EU, USAID, German donors)
  • Proven track record of developing budgets for high volume projects
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting software (knowledge of FundsPro is an asset)
  • Team leadership, mentoring, coaching skills and capacity building experience as well as excellent coordination and organizational skills
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s project countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English and French
