The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Human Recourses Directorate (HR), HR Strategy & Governance Department (HRS&G), Medical Service Unit (MSU) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Head of Medical Service Unit*.
This is a full-time position at grade 6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Health professional, who will supervise and manage a team of medical and assistance employees, deliver the services outlined in the Staff Rules, oversee and develop the quality of the services and responsiveness of the Medical Service at EIB in order to ensure EIB is a safe and healthy workplace.
As the Head of the Medical Service Unit you will report to the Head of HR Strategy & Governance department on non-medical administrative matters while ensuring medical confidentiality.
You will ensure a good collaboration of the team contributing to an occupational health programme which is both preventing illness as well as reacting adequately and timely to individual medical cases.
Internal contacts: All employees, HR management.
External contacts: external service providers, consultants. Possibly other counterparts, other EU Institutions and Luxembourgish medical network.
As Head of Medical Service unit you will be accountable for smooth functioning of the team and ensure delivery on its tasks (potentially with support of an external health care provider), including pre-employment health assessments, regular periodic health examinations and emergency care to all EIB staff, travel health advice & immunisation to staff going on missions, advice in the field of ergonomics, identification, prevention and monitoring of occupational health problems (including follow-up of staff and the management of specific files, e.g. long illness absence, work accidents, and/or disability case management) as well psycho-social risk assessment and its follow-up. (*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
