We are looking for a highly organized, flexible and experienced Head, Strategic Operations and Organizational Risk to lead and manage Save the Children’s strategy, planning, and risk management functions.

The responsibilities of this role will include leading the annual operating plan (AOP) process in line with existing practices and protocols and supporting the implementation of a risk management framework for the organisation. This position will report to the VP, Operations and will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support delivering on the strategic plan, as well as developing and supporting accountability and progress reporting mechanisms. This role will have access to confidential information related to organizational risks as it will support risk management and decision making. While our offices are located in Toronto, this role will join, and work with, a team with staff located across the country.

YOUR IMPACT

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Strategy and Planning

  • Lead the AOP process by engaging with internal stakeholders, facilitating discussions, gathering and compiling information, and ensuring on-time completion
  • Manage progress reporting, including working with teams to collect and compile data, prepare reports and dashboards, and reporting regularly to the SLT
  • Work closely with members of the SLT, as well as the Senior Management Team (SMT) to support the execution of strategies and sub-strategies related to their areas of focus
  • Prepare materials and support discussions with the Strategy and Risk Committee of the Board

Risk Management

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of SCC’s risk management framework, including risk reporting processes and dashboards.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, working closely with SLT and SMT to ensure that risk management is embedded in all key organizational initiatives
  • Provide risk management expertise by participating in and supporting strategic projects and discussions across the organization
  • Prepare materials and support discussions with the Strategy and Risk Committee of the Board

Reporting and Analysis

  • Develop, produce, and deploy standardized internal reports and templates
  • Manage the collection and compilation of data to support external reporting (e.g., to Save the Children International)
  • Support the continuous improvement of existing organizational processes, systems, and policies
  • Support the development of organizational metrics and KPIs to track progress and measure success
  • Develop and maintain data collection and reporting systems within the context of this role, in collaboration with the IT department

 Project Management and Facilitation

  • Oversee AOP and organizational risk management initiatives
  • Organize and facilitate meetings related to strategy and strategic initiatives
  • Identify and report on barriers or impediments to the completion of the AOP to SLT and recommend mitigation or adjustment measures

WHAT YOU OFFER

Qualifications & Competencies (include but are not limited to):

  • Completion of community college diploma or university degree in a related field.
  • 5-7yrs of similar/related position
  • Strong relationship skills with the ability to quickly establish credibility at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated success leading and managing end-to-end organizational strategic planning, risk management, and change management processes
  • Strong knowledge of analysis, problem solving, and structured approaches to identifying solutions
  • Skilled with Microsoft Excel and PowerBI (or other data visualization solutions)
  • Highly proficient analytical skills with the ability to organize results and recommendations clearly
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines and deliverables
  • Ability to maintain high levels of ethics, honesty, and confidentiality when dealing with potentially sensitive information
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must adhere to Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding policy and protocols
