The primary objective of the project which is under Nutrition and Clinical Services Division is to test a battery of interventions to ameliorate maternal gut health which eventually will improve the birth outcomes as well as the overall health of offspring. The interventions will include culturally acceptable and evidence-based food additives and probiotics.

Position Description:

The Health Worker will report to the Research Officer and will be mainly responsible to support in project implementation. S/he will be involved in –

• Visit field sites as per the plan of the Supervisor;
• Assist SFAs in sample (Stool, Saliva, Urine, etc from home) collection and sample processing;Samples should be collected from the participant’s home (Sometimes samples might be collected at night as well);
• Assist FFWs to visit household of the participants and to oversee medication regularly;
• Organize field logistics support and frequently deliver supplies from the office to the field;
• Counsel and encourage participants for follow-up visits;
• Motivate community people to participate in the study & to provide sample as per protocol (Blood, Saliva, Stool, Urine, etc);
• Bring study subjects to the clinic to collect samples;
• Collecting field-related complaints and addressing them to the supervisor;
• Support colleagues to build team spirit and improve the working environment;
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure quality implementation of the project.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Minimum S.S.C pass.
• 2 years experience in field research;
• Previous experience in working on maternal gestational weight gain in Matlab will be preferred.

Location: Matlab

Contract Type and duration:

• CSA basis for 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk.25,316 /-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
