Result of Service
Under the overall supervision of the Director of PCKMD and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Knowledge Management Services Section (KMSS), and in close collaboration with the Heritage Project Consultant, UNESCO, the Chiefs of the Publications and Conference Management Section (PCMS), Communications and Media Relations Section (CMRS), and the Africa Hall Project Team, the consultants’ responsibilities and deliverables are as follows: – Development of the Scope of Work and Task Brief for the content development for the AH Permanent Exhibition – Development of the Scope of Work and Task Brief for the content development for the AH Permanent Exhibition -Research on the content and development of storyline for each thematic area – Research on the content and development of storyline for each thematic area

Duties and Responsibilities
The consultant will lead in the development of content (literature and multimedia) on the following themes identified for the permanent exhibition 1. Pan-Africanism – Pan-Africanism, the ideology and movement advocating for the unity and solidarity of African people identifying its contextual pillars including, the post-colonial ambitions of Africa and the role of Emperor Haile Selassie and the other African leaders in the creation of the Organization of African Unity. The meetings that have been held and key decisions, speeches, and resolutions such as that of the May 1963 African Summit Conference; struggles for independence from colonial rule, neo-colonialism, economic exploitation, and cultural imperialism; The founding of the UN/ECA and OAU and their various roles in both Africa’s post-colonial and contemporary development showcasing the footprint of the UN on the continent socioeconomic development 2. African Heritage, Culture and Arts – A homage to the tangible and intangible heritage, focusing on creativity and Africa’s rich cultural diversity, innovative arts, living heritage and cultural and creative industries and their contribution to the socio-economic development of Africa. To include Africa’s language; traditions and customs; food; attire, fabric and fashion; music, written and spoken word; crafts etc.) 2. Scope of Work ECA’s Publications, Conference and Knowledge Management Division (PCKMD) seeks to recruit consultants to provide a range of technical and creative-oriented services as part of the content development and delivery of the mobile and permanent exhibitions in the Africa Hall Visitors Centre. The consultants should be experienced in the following areas of expertise: Heritage (arts & culture), History (Pan Africanism, socioeconomic & political development of Africa); and Multimedia Content Development (documentary/film, audio and video materials on African arts, history, culture, and heritage). Qualifications/special skills
Advanced University Degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in history, political science, or cultural studies with specific research experience in pan Africanism, post-colonial and socio-economic development history of Africa or related fields. A first-level university degree in combination with seven years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
