Mission and objectives
UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to aid and protection to a population of some 5.5 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank, and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN (United Nations) operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded entirely by voluntary contributions.
Context
This UNV assignment is part of the HR Department seamless data exchange between offices and business partners initiative etc. UNRWA Management is increasingly recognizing the importance of data-driven decision-making. An HR dashboard serves as a vital tool for Human Resources departments, offering a visual representation of key metrics and analytics that drive workforce management. The rationale for implementing an HR dashboard is multifaceted. First and foremost, it enhances visibility into critical HR metrics— such as staff turnover rates, recruitment effectiveness, and training outcomes — enabling HR leaders to identify trends and make informed decisions swiftly. This real-time access to data not only supports strategic planning but also aligns HR initiatives with the Agency’s goals. In summary, an HR dashboard is not just a collection of metrics; it is a strategic asset that enhances decision-making, drives organizational effectiveness, and ultimately contributes to a more engaged and productive workforce. As the HR role evolves, leveraging such tools will be crucial for sustaining a competitive edge. Task Description
Under the direct supervision of Reporting and Analytics Officer or designated officer, the UN Volunteer will: • Create visually appealing and user-friendly dashboards and reports in Power BI. • Customize the layout, color scheme, and branding elements to fit the organization’s branding guidelines. • Incorporate interactive features like filters, slicers, drill-down options, and tooltips to enhance user engagement with the data. • Connect Power BI to relevant data sources and integrate data from various systems as needed. • Conduct data cleaning, transformation, and modeling to maintain data accuracy and consistency. • Develop calculated measures and establish data relationships to facilitate the desired visualizations. • Develop automate platform for identified HR transaction.

Living conditions and remarks
Amman, the capital, is a peaceful city with over four million residents. People are friendly to visitors. Services in terms of banking, transportation, health and communications are easily available. Though Arabic is the official language, English is widely spoken among the majority of the population, especially in Amman. Road network is good both in terms of spread and quality of the roads. Public transportation in Amman is limited. Taxis are relatively cheap and easily available. There are a number of shopping malls, restaurants, gyms, and cinemas. A large variety of accommodation options can be found; however, it is worth noting that prices in Amman have generally increased in the past few years. There are no specific security threats. Amman is a very easy city in which to live; large, many amenities, very modern and serviced by an international airport with direct flights to most capital cities. According to the assessment of the UN Department of Safety & Security (UNDSS) Jordan is a family duty station (category A hardship). As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the insurance plan.
