Your team

Within the Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, the “ATM Training” service is a certified training provider operating under EU regulations. The service is responsible for developing, delivering and maintaining training (internal and external) for ATC students & ATCO’s. The “ATM Training” service also provides support and competence in the realisation of ATM related projects at MUAC.

Your role

Your role will be to:

  • Design, plan review, and deliver tailor-made human performance training for all operational staff in cooperation with the subject matter experts, trainers, and instructors, and ensure alignment with the applicable regulations and best practices in learning methods for operational staff.
  • Operate as a trainer and coach, within the OPS-related training and develop training plans, and relevant materials, such as presentations, e-books, etc. to respond to development needs.
  • Review evaluations and development progress of individual performance and propose personal development plans specific to each individual coaching trajectory.
  • Adopt and enhance the current portfolio of performance assessment and development methods identify areas for improvement and assess future needs.
  • Participate in periodic meetings to review the performance of Ab-initio (ATCO) students and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Producing reports on Human Performance activities, organize and conduct coaching and personal development sessions.
  • To advise within the scope of expertise and assist the Training Team as and when required.
  • Participate in the selection process of Ab-initio students.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in order to provide recommendations on human performance initiatives and programs.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • University education of four years attested by a diploma in a relevant field (Psychology, Human Performance, etc.) or of 3 years plus 1-year relevant professional experience.
  • Internal candidates can check on the intranet to see what level of in-house experience is considered equivalent to educational qualifications where appropriate.
  • Coaching certificate (e.g., ICF or similar)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience as a coach and/or trainer.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of innovative learning/training solutions, techniques and assessments.
  • Experience or knowledge of modern training design methodologies and teaching methods.
  • Knowledge or understanding of tools and methods to assess and enhance human performance (e.g., HeartMath, MBTI, Insight Discovery)
  • Pedagogical skills and impactful presentation style. Ability to motivate and engage with an audience.
  • The following skills and experience would be considered an advantage:
    • experience in companies with safety-critical activities (i.e., aviation, chemical/nuclear power plants, rail transport, etc.)
    • Knowledge of EASA and other relevant regulations of ATCO training
  • Communication: You adapt communication to different situations and audiences.
  • Planning and organising: You plan ahead and adapt as required.
  • Managing change: You support the change process.
  • Creativity and Innovation: You apply new approaches.
  • Customer Focus: You respond effectively to customer enquiries.

  • Professional conduct in line with the corporate behaviours of the Agency, i.e. result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team-player approach.
  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C2.
  • Proficiency in Dutch or any other European language will be considered an advantage
    The levels relate to the Common European Framework of References for languages (CEFR).

Useful information

  • Applications will be accepted from nationals of EUROCONTROL Member States only.
  • The selected candidate will be offered a contract of 5 Year (s) pursuant to the provisions of the Staff Regulations governing officials at EUROCONTROL. The contract may be renewed up to a maximum of 9 years or converted into an undetermined contract. Before being established in the post, the selected candidate will be requested to provide certified copies of their degrees and successfully serve a probationary period of 9 months.
  • Internal candidates
    If selected, the person will keep their current type of appointment duration (undetermined or determined).
    The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 5 Year(s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years.
  • The successful candidate shall be appointed at the grade set out in this vacancy notice, or if a group of grades has been published for a job level, in principle at the basic grade of the published job level.
  • Candidates declared suitable who are not selected for the post will be placed on a reserve list for similar roles. The reserve list will be valid for one year from the closing date of applications.
