Join our dedicated & diligent Human Resources team. You will be responsible for overseeing the effective coordination of the Human Resources function of Save the Children’s HR department in Vanuatu. You will also support the Director Human Resource, Administration and ICT to assist in managing the human resources of Save the Children to optimize the implementation of programs in Vanuatu and ensuring employee satisfaction.

Where you come in:
In this maximum-term position, based in Port Vila you will be part of the HR, Administration and ICT team, providing HR support to the organization.
You will make an impact by:
Human resources
- Plan and manage recruitment, selection and onboarding of new staff
- Assist, plan and conduct employee orientation, training and development logistics
- Assist the Director HR in the implementation of the work force development strategy including supporting line managers development and monitor learning and development plans for staff
- Administer HR policies and procedures and continually asses’ ways to improve processes
- Administer compensation and benefits and record keeping
- Raise HR process, systems, people and culture concerns up to the Director HR and Senior Management Team in collaboration with the employee representative
- Work collaboratively with the Save the Children Australia People and Culture team and Pacific Workforce Development Lead to coordinate the roll out of key human resources initiatives including the implementation of the global Save the Children Human Resources Information System
- Facilitate end to end process of visas and work permits for international staff including permit renewals
- Handle employee complaints, grievances, and other employee relations matters
- Provide input into budget development for programs to ensure alignment with salary scales
- Continuously review and update the HR manual
Financial
- Responsible for preparing payroll and record keeping.
- Responsible for the timely payments of VNPF
- Reconcile monthly HR balance sheet accounts
- Responsible for liaising with HR for staff payroll queries
- Assist with all audits for HR transactions.
Business partnering support to line managers
- Support line manager administer the annual performance review cycle in line with Save the Children standards
- Support the roll out of the annual staff engagement survey
- Support the Director HR in ensuring professional development, retention and succession plans are in place and are used.
- Responsible for uploading and maintaining staff data in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system -Agresso
- Drafting and sending out staff communications to Save the Children and employees

Child protection and safeguarding requirements
- Maintain a child safe environment at the workplace and safeguard children’s rights, acting in the best interests of children at all times

- Demonstrate the highest standards of behavior towards children in both your private and professional life

- Respond to any concerns for the safety or wellbeing of a child in a program in accordance with internal reporting processes
- Ensure staff have completed background checks and are trained in child safeguarding in line with organizational and program requirements
This role requires:
Essential knowledge or experience
- Over 5 years’ experience working in mid-level HR or Administration roles
- Communication skills: Good listener and able to communicate needs and expectations of both organization and employees
- Strong interpersonal skills: With constant interaction with staff, must be able to maintain a positive demeanor through all situations
- Solid background in payroll practices
- Full understanding of HR functions and best practices
- Highly proficient in the use of computerized accounts packages, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Desirable knowledge or experience
- Exceptional customer services focus (internal and external stakeholders)
- Rapport building and relationship building abilities
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Fantastic organizational and time management skills

- Previous experience working in a decentralized organization

Required qualifications and/or accreditations
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management, or equivalent
