JOB DETAIL

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB or the Bank) is seeking a talented national from its member countries to fill the position of Human Resources (HR) Assistant in the Human Resources and Administration Department. The successful candidate will be based at CDB’s quarters in St. Michael, Barbados.

 THE DEPARTMENT

The Human Resources Division encompasses, among other areas, rewards, benefits and compensation, talent acquisition, talent management, staff relations and welfare, performance management, employee engagement, learning and development, analytics, and workforce planning and budgeting. The Division is the focal point for all staff transactions and is focused on strategic and operational excellence to ensure a strong employee experience. Human Resources Specialists and Assistants and several external partners support the work of the Division.

THE ROLE

The Assistant will work alongside other HR Assistants in providing first line transactional, and advisory services and processing activity to the staff of the Bank as part of the ‘ASK HR’ function. The role provides information, manages data, executes process delivery, advises the workforce based on information received and knowledge of HR policies and guidelines and processes. The Assistant will interface with staff across the Bank employing a high degree of tact and diplomacy to promote a positive image of the Department, resolve queries in a professional manner, and build confidence in the ‘ASK HR’ function. The role also has core responsibilities for HR budget preparation, financial transactions, HR performance metrics and supporting the staff compensation function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The HR Assistant is required to:

  • Provide exceptional support to the HR team by managing and maintaining accurate employee data within SuccessFactors.
  • Execute HR transactions such as employee onboarding, offboarding, transfers, promotions, and employee changes.
  • Generate and distribute reports and analytics to support HR decision-making processes, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to the workforce by providing information and guidance on HR policies, guidelines, and processes.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to streamline HR operations and improve efficiency in data management and reporting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR projects and initiatives, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, rules and guidelines.
  • Build the HR reporting and analytics function by developing and analysing data in a relevant, meaningful manner to drive HR business decisions, process improvements and support strategic initiatives.
  • Provide quarterly reports on agreed metrics in order to track HR delivery on SLAs, staff productivity and performance ratios.
  • Contribute to the development of the HR annual report with the production of relevant people metrics.
  • Participate in the annual budget planning exercises including lating baseline information and analysing historical budget performance to inform management decision-making.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive employee information in accordance with data protection and privacy guidelines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or a related area.
  • Proven experience and expertise in performing HR administrative functions, including data management and transactional support.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing SuccessFactors, SAP or other HR information systems for data management and reporting evinced by SAP Cloud certification, SAP Applied Certification Associate, or other relevant certification,
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI or any other data analytics tools

 TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

This role is a full-time position with the successful candidate being contracted on a two-year basis in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The benefits package includes a pension plan, life and medical insurances.
