We are looking for a talented individual to work with at the GGGI European Office in Budapest. The selected intern will provide support to Office’s projects (hereafter: Projects) operations and activities in relation to the Economic Innovation Partnership Program (EIPP) andtwo European projects: the Energy Efficiency Aggregation platform for Sustainable Investments (ENERGATE) and Urban Planning and Design for climate neutrality by 2030 (UP2030), both funded by the European Union. In addition, the intern will support Office’s activities related to communication and visibility, project support, project proposal development, resource mobilization, and general office and administrative management.
Economic Innovation Partnership Program (EIPP): The EIPP is a collaborative initiative between the Republic of Korea (Korea) and partner countries aimed at fostering green and innovation-led growth. The program, coordinated by the Korea Development Institute (KDI), seeks to strengthen innovation capacities and develop joint projects between Korea and partner countries. More specifically GGGI will support KDI on a) Enhancing economic cooperation between Western Balkans and the Republic of Korea and b) Desk research on EU funds for supporting the implementation of EIPP projects in Hungary.
ENERGATE project aims to facilitate the creation of an effective, ICT-enabled, energy efficiency marketplace bringing together energy services and sustainable finance to accelerate the renovation rate of buildings by increasing the chances for projects to be financed. ENERGATE envisions to transform the complex set of decision-making actions for targeted groups, even to non-experts, into a user-friendly and single-entry service.
UP2030 project’s overall objective is to support cities in driving the socio-technical transitions required to meet their climate neutrality targets, helping city stakeholders and local authorities put neutrality on the map of their communities in day-to-day actions and strategic decisions. GGGI is developing the finance strategy to support cities in their transition toward a climate-neutral and resilient future.
Both EU-funded projects started on the 1st of January 2023. ENERGATE has a duration of 2.5 years, while UP2030 has a duration of 3 years. Under both projects, GGGI is part of a wide consortium of European partners. The EIPP project on EU funds desk research starts in September and will be concluded in February 2024. The starting date of project on the Western Balkans expansion is yet to be determined.
The intern regularly gives account of its work to the GGGI Country Lead (hereafter: Lead) to support quality and timely delivery of outputs under the Projects and other office activities.

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must, at the time of application, meet the following requirements:
Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
