The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office of Information Technology and Management (ITM) is the organization’s primary provider of high-quality products of ICT systems and Green Energy services to a global network of 155+ country offices and UNDP partners worldwide. Within ITM, the mission of the ITM Smart Infrastructure Services (SIS) is to “Create Smart Facilities, build local Capacity and Inspire and Movement”, which guarantees efficient, innovative, and sustainable management of technologies for UN facilities, and consistency with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Smart Facility solutions include Green Energy services, Connectivity, Security and IoT, and Cloud Infrastructure Services. ITM offers a framework of best practices to deliver resilient, highly available and sustainable business solutions that flourishing innovation throughout the organization.
The mission of the Cloud Infrastructure Services unit is to offer state of the art Cloud based solutions to the Organization, including Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, as well as cloud-based services such as Mobile Device Management and Cloud Printing service. We do this to maintain organizational productivity using technology, improve stakeholders well-being, optimize financial efficiency, and serve as a showcase for development at local level.
Under the overall guidance of the Cloud Infrastructure Services unit manager, Cloud Services Analyst is to provide technical support for Cloud-based services for the UNDP offices and business units across the globe. The incumbent is required to follow UNDP standard operating procedures for information technology service deliveries.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to the performance of UNDP Cloud platform(s):
- Attend to incidents and service catalog requests for the Cloud platform
- Periodically review and keep internal records on the Cloud platform up-to-date
- Update Cloud platform to reflect changes in internal records
Support implementation of Cloud Platform(s) oversight controls:
- Ensure that all Cloud resources have required oversight controls applied
- Monitor and troubleshoot oversight controls assignments
- Review and advise on remediation actions for oversight controls non-compliance’s
- Assist with implementation of remediation actions
Monitor Cloud Platform(s) costs and update budgets:
- Monitor and update technical controls for cost management
- Escalate and follow up on budget exceptions
- Recommend actions based on consumption forecasts
Monitor Cloud Platform(s) updates and health notifications:
- Monitor Cloud platform’s service health, changes and updates
- Notify and follow up Cloud platform users about health events and upcoming platform changes
Guide and support with audits and assessments of Cloud Platform(s):
- Perform periodic automated assessments of Cloud services
- Assist in complying with audit and assessment requests
Report on compliance status of Cloud Platform(s) resources:
- Provide periodic reports on compliance status of Cloud platform resources and services
- Participate in periodic service review meeting with vendors and suppliers
Facilitate in conducting the training and communications with stakeholders on compliance requirements and updates:
- Facilitate with periodic trainings and workshops on Cloud platform compliance to UNDP ICT community
- Recommend updates to UNDP ICT Policies, Standards and Procedures as it relates to Cloud Platform(s)
- Facilitate knowledge and capacity building, knowledge sharing and advocacy
- Identify, synthesize and document best practices and lessons learned that are generated from the project and implementing partners.
The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Institutional Arrangement:
- On the day-to-day basis, the Cloud Services ICT Analyst will be working with and directly reporting to the Manager of Cloud Infrastructure Services unit
- The Global ICT Advisor/Chief of SIS has the overall responsibility to guide the team

- Knowledge in programming concept, developing software program and management of application lifecycle. Knowledge of Oracle VCBS, Microsoft tools and equivalent an asset
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent ) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline is required. OR
A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree
Experience:
- Applicants with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in the area of the Public Cloud Infrastructure Operations.
Required skills and competencies:
- Training or experience in the area of the Public Cloud Infrastructure Operations (GCP, AWS, Azure or Oracle Cloud) is required.
Desired additional skills and competencies:
- Experience and knowledge of computer network and network security technologies and their application in public cloud environment
- Prior experience and knowledge of modern web application technologies and their implementation in the public cloud environment
- Experience using automation tools and scripting languages
- Experience and understanding of modern identity platforms like Azure AD
- Understanding of application of cyber security principles, technologies, techniques and processes as they apply to public cloud infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of project management methodologies, with ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Proven track record of excellent verbal and written communication skills with a positive attitude, actively contributing to the team by supporting projects and executing tasks as needed.
Language:
- Fluency in English is required.
- Working knowledge of other UN language is desirable
