Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.
The FAO Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (FAO-RNE) is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for rural transformation, transformation of agrifood systems for healthy diets, greening agriculture and resilience and emergencies. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the region and, in collaboration with divisions, centres and offices at headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO’s strategic response to regional priorities.

Reporting Lines

The ICT Solutions Specialist will report to the National Professional Officer – (Information and Communication Technology) in the regional office for the Near East and North Africa and work in close collaboration with ADG Office and IT team in Cairo and follows technical standards and procedures established by the IT Division.

Technical Focus 

The ICT Solution Specialist in FAO-RNE specialized in Microsoft Power Platform will contribute in continuing iRNE product development and support as well as other apps in close collaboration with IT division.

Tasks and responsibilities

The ICT Solutions Specialist will perform the following duties with respect to Information Systems:

•    Provide expertise in SharePoint, Power Platform suite (PowerApps, Power Automate and Power BI).
•    Design, develop and deploy modern and integrated O365 solutions based on PowerApps.
•    Design, maintain and support RNE Power Apps applications, collect and evaluate good practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the applications.
•    Design and maintain the required reports and dashboards.
•    Participate in the training, documentation, and users’ support.
•    Stay committed and ready to perform any other duty and take-up any assignment given by ICT Officer.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

•    Master’s level degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electric or Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field from an institution recognized on the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO list. A Bachelor’s level degree and 2 years of relevant experience may be considered equivalent.
•    Working knowledge (level C) of one FAO language relevant to the assignment;
•    One to four years of relevant experience for category C; five to nine years for category B; at least 10 years for category A  in developing digital solutions using Power Platform

Technical/Functional Skills 

•    Work experience in software development and Microsoft Power Platform
•    Very good ICT problem-solving and debugging skills
•    Extent and relevance of experience in reporting tools
•    Extent and relevance of experience delivering IT-driven solutions and services, in particular information systems.
•    Demonstrable design knowledge, such as layout, typography, interaction design.
•    Demonstrable proficiency with data visualization tools, such as Microsoft Power BI
•    Demonstrable proficiency with business app development tools, such as Microsoft PowerApps.
•    Demonstrable proficiency with automation of recurring tasks software, such as Microsoft Power Automate.
•    Demonstrable proficiency with content management system (CSM) software, such as Microsoft SharePoint.

Selection Criteria

•    At least limited knowledge of a second FAO language is an asset.
•    Minimum two years of relevant experience in developing digital solutions using Power Platform.
