World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Analytics Intern.

The Analytics team seeks an intern for Artificial Intelligence research and implementation. In this role, the intern will contribute to research and development of solutions that leverage artificial intelligence in awareness initiatives, fundraising and marketing efforts for environmental conservation.

Intern Project

The aim of this internship is to actively engage with the evolving field of Artificial Intelligence, ensuring that WWF can effectively apply the latest AI technologies and methods to enhance our marketing and fundraising efforts. The intern will be crucial to help WWF’s analytics team stay on top of the latest developments in AI through academic and industry research. Their role will be beneficial to identify new technologies, methodologies and best practices so we can leverage AI to improve user engagement and optimize donor experiences.

Key areas of focus and specific responsibilities for the intern will include:

  • Research and Benchmarking: Investigate how leading companies and non-profits are utilizing AI in digital marketing.
  • Development and Testing of AI solutions: The intern will actively participate in the development of test prototypes for innovative AI applications. This will involve using Python and other relevant programming languages, as well as understanding and utilizing APIs to create and integrate solutions.
  • Enhancement of Current AI implementations: The analytics team has already begun implementing AI for content generation, content categorization and development of interactive AI such as chatbots. The intern will help build upon the team’s existing efforts and assist in refining these tools.
  • Presenting findings and progress to the analytics team and marketing department.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on emerging AI technologies and trends. Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI to explore new ways AI can be used to advance WWF’s mission.
  • Assist in development of AI-driven projects such creation and improvement of chatbots, creative content generation, and advanced analytical tasks.
  • Work closely with other teams such as marketing to ensure the seamless integration of AI technologies into various aspects of the organization’s operations.
  • Design and develop innovative AI prototypes and applications using Python and other relevant programming tools.
  • Analyze data from AI implementations, draw insights, and present findings in an understandable format to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all projects, including coding, testing processes, and learnings for future reference.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to commit a minimum of 15-20 hours per week for a duration of 3 months.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, business analytics, statistics or other related fields. Master’s Degree or current enrollment in master’s program is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience performing data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Python. Familiarity with other programming languages (e.g., R, SQL) and HTML is beneficial.
  • Hands-on experience with AI and machine learning frameworks and tools.
  • Understanding of and experience with APIs for software integration.
  • Demonstrated ability in analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI or SAS Visual Analytics is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting findings and collaborating effectively with diverse teams and all levels of staff.
  • Flexibility to adapt to new tools, technologies and evolving project needs.
  • Experience with SAS (Enterprise Guide/Enterprise Miner/Viya) software is a plus.
