The International Food Policy Research Institute seeks a consultant to work on compiling datasets and conducting analysis of data related to gender differences in land rights.
As part of piloting the Women’s Empowerment Metric for National Statistical Systems (WEMNS), intrahousehold data have been collected on a range of topics from Bangladesh, Nepal, Malawi and Guatemala. Approximately 800 households were interviewed in each country; in each household, one man and one woman was interviewed.
The consultant scope of activities are:
· Create datasets for analysis that includes: all land-related data, men’s and women’s responses about household decision-making, and individual and household-level characteristics, for all four countries.
· Generate tables of descriptive statistics and basic cross-sectional tests of association for each country following guidance of the Principal Investigators, disaggregated by sex and other aspects of differentiation
· Provide clean commented code for all analysis (Stata or R)
Level of Effort: 12 days
Duration of Contract: Signed contract – June 2024
Deliverables:
· Consolidated, cleaned datasets suitable for cross-country analysis of land-related data
· Tables of descriptive statistics and tests of association, as directed by the Principal Investigators
· Clean, commented code for all analysis (Stata or R)
Required qualifications:
· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the study (e.g., economics, agricultural economics, public policy, political science, gender studies, etc.)
· Strong quantitative research methods
· Expertise in using STATA or R programming
· Experience working with household survey datasets
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
· Preferred qualifications
· Masters’ degree in a relevant field
·Knowledge of women’s land rights research
