Result of Service

Upon completion the following expectations should be met:
• Compiling, redrafting, and editing is completed for around 425 pages of the Report including annexes (printed report and online content).
• Ensure correct and relevant information is included throughout the re-drafted and edited Report.
• Text is well-drafted and well-edited throughout the Report.
• Language and text are consistent throughout the Report.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Individual Contractor will be responsible for the following duties:
• Redraft and edit the text for the UN Human Rights Annual Report 2023 (printed report and online content).
• Redraft and edit human interest stories, infographics, tables, and other sections of the Report as required.
• Check for factual accuracy and consistency throughout the Report.
• Ensure consistency in language and style throughout the Report.
• Conduct proofreading and final review of printouts and blueprints before printing.

Qualifications/special skills

University degree in English or in international human rights law.
At least 5 years of experience in editing English language texts is required.
Solid experience with drafting and editing is required.
Knowledge of and experience in editing technical documents and demonstration of a high level of accuracy and attention to details is required.
Experience with United Nations/OHCHR editorial guidelines, terminology and scope of work is highly desirable.

Fluency in English is required
